Big Hair Friday – Beyonce

You’ve got to love Beyonce.

Well, I do. I would even nominate her as one of my hair idols.

It’s been a big week for her, becoming a mum and all, so I thought she should have Big Hair Friday too.

One thing I would like to point out, is that you shouldn’t feel envious of Beyonce’s hair. You too can buy the same hair she has. I’m envious of her stylists, but not of her hair.

Although Beyonce may advertise home hair colourants, there’s no way she has ever used them, so don’t be fooled by the pictures on the box. Leave the colouring to your hairdresser. They can probably order in the hair for you too!

How is 2012 going for you so far? I can already feel it’s going to be an amazing year! I am so excited about some upcoming projects and I hope to keep you hair-inspired all year.

Is there anything you’d like to see Hair Romance cover this year? Now’s the time to ask as I can make sure your hair questions get the expert answer you’re looking for. I am bursting to tell you about a plan coming up in Feb/March but I can’t just yet….trust me there’s some hairspiration ahead!

Happy New Year xxx

I love Beyonce’s hair, I wish I could have a fro. Can you talk how to keep long-ish hair healthy? I’ve noticed now that I’m growing out my hair I have a few more split ends than when my hair was shoulder length.

Getting an afro perm won’t keep your hair healthy ;) but I will definitely put together a list of tips for healthy long hair

Kristiina January 15, 2012 at 3:11 am

I’m also hoping for advices of how to get long hair stay healthy. My curly hair is naturally so dry and gets split ends so easily that it’s quite hard to grow it longer. I would love to get some tips how to make it long & still healthy and beautiful!

Sure things Kristiina, that’s a great idea for a post x

Beyonce’s hair is AMAZING. I was watching some of her video clips on youtube yesterday… she can do SO many thing with it *sigh*

Hair Romance January 13, 2012 at 2:16 pm

It’s not what you got but the way that you use it x

When I found out a few weeks ago that Jennifer Aniston only “cut” her hair because she took out her extensions I was shocked. I had no idea it wasn’t her real hair. So apparently the lesson is that we can have ANYONE’S hair we want – as long as we’re willing to pay for it.

Keri January 13, 2012 at 10:11 am

Oops! Have already (recently) complained to you about this. Sorry. I just read your reply to my last rant about it though and I really WOULD like a post about extensions. It’s really interesting to think that we have all this hair-envy when it’s not even REAL. Kind of like finding out Kate Moss is really 190 pounds, she just wears a really good pair of Spanx. lol

Hair Romance January 13, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Lol I want those spanx!
I will definitely do some posts on extensions this year. That’s the reason celebrities can grow their hair so quickly. I’m kind of expecting Emma Watson to get some as soon as her hair is chin length…

I would love to see styling tips for short hair. I recently chopped off my long locks (again) and am keen to trying some different looks out.

Would love a tutorial on how to style this ‘do:

Hair Romance January 13, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Sure thing Sheridan. Short Cut Saturday will be full of short hairstyle ideas x

Hey there,
as a student I’m always looking for ways to save money and I stumbled upon a few DIY-hair treatments but so far I couldn’t bring myself to really try them, because I’m kinda anxious what they will do with my hair… so any tips on that would be great.
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to your projects in 2012 whatever they will be!

Hair Romance January 14, 2012 at 7:52 am

Good idea Cindy, I’m going to do some research and report back x

I can’t wait to be hairspired!

Nicole January 14, 2012 at 7:41 am

I’d love some good advice for naturally curly hair. Everything from products, cuts, styles and tips would be great! Mine is much curlier than yours, but I love your big natural curls! =) Thanks!

Hair Romance January 14, 2012 at 7:50 am

definitely Nicole! Also check out for great curly advice x

Hair Romance January 15, 2012 at 5:05 pm

Love Beyonce.

Susanna January 14, 2012 at 9:02 pm
I want to know how to do this for Valentine’s Day…
Do you have any idea how to do that?

Hair Romance January 15, 2012 at 4:58 pm

Hi Susanna, that’s a cute pic! It looks like they used 3 heart-shaped stencils and used a coloured hairspray. I’d say you’d have to use a lot of hairspray and/or gel on the bangs to keep them in place so not sure it would make for the most romantic, touchable hairstyle ;)

Jenny Tong January 14, 2012 at 9:49 pm

Totally, there is NO WAY Beyonce colours her own hair. It’s hilarious to even fathom the thought! I wouldn’t mind picking up a fro wig though after seeing that hot pictures of Ms Knowles. Now an excuse to wear it.
What do you think of the delicious hair powder by Spilt Milk. It’s my new discovery for 2012. I was almost tempted to taste it as it smells that darn good!

Hair Romance January 15, 2012 at 5:01 pm

Do it! I love a wig for a fun style change. I haven’t really tried these powders yet. i thought the container looked a bit messy but they do smell great. Maybe I’ll have to give them a try.
