Big Hair Friday: Volcanic hair at Maticevski

Back to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia for some big hair inspirationn.

Jayne Wild, hair director extraordinaire for the Maticevski show, called this “volcanic hair”. It’s a modern take on the beehive with a more organic shape and clashing textures.

Key to this style is the juxtaposition of textural elements – the texture set and teased top, the smooth sides (Jayne ironed these sections with her ghd) and the seam up the back. The strong back part was created with two smooth ponytails at the back. These were then covered with the hair from the front and the sides.

You can recreate elements of this style for a more detailed upstyle. I love the back seam for added drama.

Can we talk about the amazing makeup too? This look could take out big eyebrow of the week. Love those detailed Cleopatra-esque dark brows from Kate Squires for Napoleon Perdis.

A little detail goes a long way. I love the winged brow look, but not sure I could pull it off. Would you wear a winged eyebrow?
