Happiest of holidays

Merry Christmas from Hair Romance

In Australia, we have a hot Christmas. My husband is English and he says it still never feels like Christmas in the heat, but he’s getting used to it. This year I’ll be relaxing with my family having a BBQ and swimming in the pool. Maybe a trip to the beach in the late afternoon, or maybe just a nap in an air-conditioned room.

This Christmas I don’t need any gifts, but there is one thing I would like.

I’d love to know more about YOU! I can see in my stats what countries you live in, but that doesn’t tell me about you.

Please stop by and say hi in the comments below. I’ve love you to “de-lurk” and tell me about you, and why you read Hair Romance.

Sending you the very best wishes for the happiest of holidays, and I hope that you get everything you want.

Christina x

I’m from UK, I can understand why your husband may say it doesn’t feel like Christmas in the heat although I’d love a BBQ right now, not had one since very early September! I found your blog when googling short hair cuts, I remember reading the how to grow out a pixie cut which was in your top posts. I added your blog to my google RSS feeds and read it that way. I’m not sure if RSS feeds tend to show in stats, it isn’t something I can see on my blogger stats and I do wonder myself if I may have a wider audience than I “know” about!!

Hi Emma! RSS doesn’t show up in stats unless they click through to your blog. Thanks so much for subscribing! One good thing about a cold Christmas is that you can eat the full Christmas lunch without worrying about wearing a bikini afterwards, lol! I also miss the yorkshire puds, still can’t make them like my mother-in-law. Happy Christmas!

I started reading Hair Romance, probably a year ago. I live in Minnesota where it’s pretty cold right now and I studied abroad in Sydney during college. I loved it and reading your blog reminds me of that :) I had emailed you about a hair question and you responded and even wrote a post about it! I really like your ebooks too and I feel like a lot of bloggers aren’t doing things like that yet.

Happy Holidays!

Hi Rachel! Thanks for reading Hair Romance for so long. Glad I could help, and maybe I should start a weekly Q&A for hair questions next year? Hope you get a white Christmas x

I found Hair Romance while I was searching for a 60s hairstyle that would work with layers and totally un-teasable hair. Didn’t have any luck on that goal, but spent the next few hours browsing back through your blog :) It’s a great place to get some random inspiration, and a lot of fun to read!
I live near Melbourne, and I have an English friend who’s always saying the same thing about summer Christmas. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) having a white Christmas in New York next year!

Thanks for reading my blog, too!

Hello!
I’m from Houston, Texas, and while it’s technically winter here I think our Christmases have a bit more in common with those in Australia. For example the high for Christmas Eve here is supposed to be 24 (degrees Celsius), not exactly hot, but definitely not cold either. Oh well, evergreen trees work with all temperature ranges, and blizzards would make last minute shopping really inconvenient, right?

I read hair romance because I love the “Big Hair Friday” posts, and I have a major crush on your hair! I love the styling tips, even if a lot of the looks aren’t exactly practical for my “Rapunzel length” hair (it touches the waistband on my jeans, when in a ponytail).
Your blog inspires me to be nice to my hair, and expand it’s horizons beyond down or ponytail/bun.

Hiya,

I’m a fellow aussie (from Victoria – south west coast). I dont exactly remember why or how I started reading your blog.. I am a fellow curly (well wavy/wurly/curly) and I am forever looking for the next best thing for my hair (or new ways to style etc). I love all your tutorials, tips and hints and your personal responses to questions/posts etc.

Im currently growing out my hair (I started with a shaved head a few years back) and I am now at about bra strap length with my curls/waves. I would love to get to waist, but would be happy with just below my bust. I love looking at and trying your different styles, its helping me keep motivated to grow and less likely to cut (I tend to get bored quickly with hairstyles).

I hope the sydney weather holds out for you :) xo

I’m from Sydney, Australia, and a relatively new reader (subscribed via RSS). Like others, I was Googling for hair tips! I had short hair until age 18 and have had long hair since then (I’m in my late 30s), so I didn’t grow up learning how to braid my hair or do buns or anything like that. I remain fairly useless, but I’m determined to do something more interesting with my just-past-the-shoulder dark brown wavy/curly hair. I love your blog and I’m enjoying experimenting with my hair!

Have a great Christmas! I don’t think it’s going to be boiling hot tomorrow (unlike today) but I’m sure it’ll still be a lovely Christmas Day in Sydney.

Hi!

I’m a fifteen year old, german girl and I’ve started following the blog this year, because I always did’nt know how to style or care my hair right. This blog rescued me.
Here in Germany we most have a cold sometimes white Chrismas, but this year it’s about 15 degree !! I’ll celebrate the holy evening with my family, after visiting the church we will have dinner and then we get the presents at the evening. Finally at the first Chrismasday we will have lunch at a restaurant like every year.
A merry Chrismas to all who loves this amazing blog like me and thanks for this great posts!! ; )

Hi there!
I’m de-lurking for once. I am from the Netherlands. I really like the creativity but still wearable things you do with your hair. I like to braid my hair in all different kind of styles. SInce I’m growing my hair I found there are endless possibilities to wear my hair. I bought both your books and re-read them every time I’m looking for inspiration to do something with my hair. Everytime I get numerous compliments about it.
So thank you for inspiring and I wish you all the best for next year!

Hey Christina,
I can’t remember how exactly I first landed on your site but I know that it was the first “adult hair” site. I’ve been a regular visitor on a lot of US-sites of (mostly) Mormon moms and their daughters and while I always found some great inspiration, some of the styles were not suitable for a then-student / soon-to-be college graduate. So finding your site was really a stroke of luck for me (especially that I hate celebrity gossip and thus try to avoid most other “glam” sites). Though some of your tips do not apply to me at all (I have completely straight hair down my back that will not ever hold a curl), I still like to browse through all your tutorials when I encounter a “hair do’ers – block”. My Christmas wish: go skiing with my brother first in Germany, than in Austria!

Hello! I like your blog very much–and I’ve been diligently working through the first e-book. But I haven’t mastered pinning my twists at *all*. I put in pins, but the twists start to droop and fall down in an hour or so. I’ll keep trying though.

I’m a professor at Harvard, so I have to dress conservatively. But since I have a conservative cut/color, I’d like to keep experimenting with fun styles. Keep ‘em coming, please!

Thank you so much for reading & supporting Hair Romance! A tip for the twist & pin – try some stronger bobby pins. I use professional pins which makes a big difference. Hope this helps and have a Merry Christmas! Xx

It’s great to see some Aussie bloggers making an impact!
Thanks for the hair inspiration, I may not be adventurous with my hair but you are building up the courage for me to step out of my ‘comfort zone’ and make the big chop, lose the hair straightener addiction and embrace my naturally curly hair!

Hi Christina,
I’ve been following you for a while now, via RSS. I live 15 minutes outside of Seattle, and most likely found you through pinterest back when you released your twist and pin e-book. I used that inspiration to wear that style to my aunt’s 60th birthday party, and got so many compliments on it (but it fell out in a hour or so, I need pro-pins).
I love reading about curly hair and how to tame it (or embrace the big). I also really like your how to talk to your hairdresser tips. I grew up with a big fuzz head and only learned to love my hair in my mid-20′s. Now I realize that curly-wavy hair is the best kind, because you can do everything with it (if you read a blog that helps explain how to ;)
Merry Christmas from a soggy Seattlite!

This is Sylvia wishing you a happy & healthy new year from the Netherlands. I bumped into Hair Romance because I needed help with blowdrying, putting up and braiding, probably because of the texture of my hair, it’s very fine and slippery and doesn’t hold shape well. Messing with my hair is one of my favorite past-times but while I have some skill with curling my hair with hot rollers, pincurls and curling iron I needed some extra advice and hairspiration on the other skills. Love your e-books and posts about blowdrying! Hope to read lots more lovely blogposts from you in 2013 :)
