Fashion month is now over and the fashion world goes back to normal…until next season!
Now is the time I start to go through all the shows to find my favourite trends and learn ways to recreate the hairstyles in my hair.
This was my first year at Milan Fashion Week and before I start to share my posts about some of the shows and trends, here’s a peek into my week through my instagram diary.
The incredible Duomo – this cathedral is in the centre of the city and you can go up to the roof terraces for an amazing view over Milan too.
I’m so glad I was able to travel with my husband Jim on this trip. We both love travelling (and he is the main writer on Mr & Mrs Romance) so we have lots of new travel tips to share. Plus he’s so much fun!
I popped into the Testanera pop up salon in Milan (Testanera is the name for Schwarzkopf in Italy) and got this rad updo. You can find more pics and the how to steps for my big hair here.
I love catching up with the delightful Anthony Nader! He was in Milan as he was working with Luigi Murenu at fashion week.
I also met the lovely Lee Oliveira. Lee is an incredible street style photographer. He lives in Sydney too but we only just met on the other side of the world. You must check out Lee’s blog and follow him on Facebook and Instagram.
Gorgeous street scenes in Milan – the Quadrilatero della Moda is an area of all the top fashion houses in Milan and is so beautiful to walk around.
Make sure you stop and look through doorways as many buildings have hidden courtyards, like secret gardens all over the city.
Now the venues for Milan Fashion Week are just a little impressive. How’s this for an entrance at the Roberto Cavalli shows?
One of the other main venues was this gorgeous building.
Now the scenes outside the fashion shows are crazy! This was outside Prada and there were traffic jams all around the city because of this show. Street style photographers were everywhere trying to snap people arriving. I was one of them, though not as crazy as the ones in this shot.
I definitely eat during fashion week, and I love Italian food (I’m half Italian). I also love drinking Spritz, it’s so refreshing and not too sweet (despite the crazy colour!)
Jim and I managed to sneak away to Lake Como one day that I didn’t have any shows. It is divine! I know why George Clooney moved there. Thanks to Anthony & Lee for the travel tips, we headed to Varenna and Bellagio and it was one of the most perfect days ever.
You can’t beat the gelato in Italy! In case you were wondering, there is a difference between ice cream and gelato.
Milan Fashion Week show videos
I was lucky enough to score some front row seats at few shows (thanks Schwarzkopf & Testanera!) and could snap a good inst-video of the final walks. Here are highlights from Sportmax, Mauro Gasperi, Francesca Liberatore and Cristiano Burani.
Beautiful show at #sportsmax today. Polka dots are here to stay! #mfw by @hairromance
Loved the side fishtail braids as seen at Mauro Gasperi #mfw #milan by @hairromance

Final walk at Cristiano Burani yesterday. And that’s a wrap for fashion week #mfw Now to edit photos & write up my posts! by @hairromance
And the final wrap party in the Palazzo Reale! Such an incredible week, and huge thanks to Schwarzkopf Australia for allowing me to experience it all.
You can spy more from my travels on Mr & Mrs Romance.
