3 cult products that will save your damaged hair

3 cult treatments for damaged hair

Have you damaged your hair? Follow these three easy tips and try these cult hair products to put your hair on the road to recovery.

My hair goes through a lot. Part of working on Hair Romance is that I’m a professional guinea pig and my hair is subjected to a lot of heat, colour and styling.

Over the last few weeks it’s done double duty and my hair been at least 4 different colours. I’ll have more details about this soon, but unfortunately it has taken a toll on my hair.

But there’s some good news.

My hair is back to feeling like normal in record time and it’s down to three key tips and three fantastic cult products.

3 things to do if you have over-coloured or over-styled your hair

  1. Take a break. Your hair has been through a lot and needs a rest. Put away your straighteners and curling wands (if only for a short while).
  2. Get an in-salon treatment.  Your stylist can prescribe the best treatment for your hair.
  3. Get a trim. Don’t fall for the marketing hype, nothing fixes split ends. The only cure is a haircut. It’s best to do it sooner rather than later so that you only need the smallest amount trimmed from your hair.

Following these three tips gave my hair a break but you need to keep treating it at home. I’ve been testing these three little-known hair products that are developing a cult status.

Darshana Natural Indian Hair Oil

Hair oils are a huge beauty trend but you need to read the label. Most hair oils on the market contain more silicones than natural oils. Darshana Hair Oil is different as it contains no silicones, parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, artificial fragrances or colours and is cruelty free.

Darshana is 100% natural oils and it smells divine because of the grapefruit and orange peel oils. As a traditional Ayurvedic product, it’s used differently to other hair treatments. You apply the oil to dry hair before you shampoo your hair.

Massage it into your scalp and work it through the midlengths and ends of your hair. Leave it on for around 30 minutes, or you can apply it at night and wash your hair in the morning. If sleeping with it in your hair, I recommend placing a towel on your pillow.

I thought it may be difficult to shampoo out but it was fine and left my hair feeling so soft. Darshana is multi use product as you can use a drop or two to smooth the ends of your hair as well. It’s very good value for a 100% natural oil product.

You can order Darshana Hair Oil online here.

Phyrra’s Pretty Little Elixir Hair Masque

When I heard one of my favourite beauty bloggers, Phyrra, was releasing a hair product I was so excited. If there’s anyone who puts their hair through more than me, it’s Phyrra. She is the queen of hair colour so I knew this masque would be nourishing yet gentle on coloured hair.

Phyrra’s Pretty Little Elixir Hair Masque is a treatment to use after shampooing your hair. Apply it to the midlengths and ends of your hair and comb through. Leave it for 5-10 minutes and rinse out. For hair that really needs a treat you can leave masque on overnight too and rinse out in the morning.

If you have fine hair, you’ll love this product as it’s incredibly moisturising without being heavy. You may even want to skip the conditioner afterwards as my hair felt great with just the masque.

Phyrra’s masque has a soft floral fragrance and makes my hair feel nourished and fresh. It’s also cruelty free and vegan.

If you’re quick, you can get Phyrra’s Pretty Little Elixir Hair Treatment here on sale right now.

Terax Crema + Keratin Original Reparative Daily Conditioner

Terax Crema is a hairdressers’ cult favourite. The original formula has remained the same for over 40 years until now. The new Terax Crema + Keratin Original Reparative Daily Conditioner is an amazing conditioner or deep treatment.

After shampooing your hair, apply Terax Crema + Keratin to your midlengths and ends and comb through. It’s smoothing and tames frizzy hair without making your hair heavy. You can use this in place of your usual conditioner.

Get it online at Beauty.com or Adore Beauty or check if your salon sells it.

With the help of these treatments my damaged hair feels and looks like healthy normal hair and I couldn’t be happier.

Hi there – just wanted to say thanks so much – I have curly hair like you, have tried hundreds of products over the years, just finished my first treatment with Darshana – hands down the best product I’ve ever used! It took less than wa week to arrive from the States, off to empty out my bathroom cupboard – thanks again!

Thanks, I’ve found that before and it has Phenoxyethanol in it which I won’t use. The search continues 🙁

    Hi,

Can you recommend any products for defining curly hair that have no Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Sulphates etc. I’m in desperate need but don’t want to use chemical laden products!

    Thanks.
