I have set myself a challenge. 30 days, 30 hairstyles using the Twist & Pin.
For the whole month of May I will be posting Twist & Pin hairstyles to prove how versatile this technique really is.
I was inspired by a tweet from The Blog Stylist and she wrote about the Little Black Dress experiment that The Society Stylist initiated in 2009. I loved the idea and wondered what sort of challenge I could set myself and so 30 Days of Twist & Pin was born.
I haven’t been very consistent with posting on Hair Romance so posting every day will be a challenge for me. But I really want to illustrate how many things you can do with your hair besides a ponytail, even if your hair is too short for a ponytail.
I started pining my hair when I was growing out my really really short hair and it got to that awkward stage where it’s not short but not a bob. It’s just a bit fluffy. I was growing out the short layer at the back and started folding and pinning to create some attempt at a hairstyle but it really worked. As my hair grew I had enough to start twisting and pinning and so it developed.

So glad to find your site! My ponytail diameter is about the size of a nickel ~ there’s a lot of it, but it’s baby fine. I’d love to see some of your creations that would work for my pitiful self! I am really tired of the frumpy ponytail and the boring claw clips. I teach high school and want some cool, easy styles that I can whip up in the mornings. 😉 Tks!
Hi Deb! Twist & pin also looks great in fine hair, you won’t need to twist as tightly and you can leave the styles a little loose so your hair looks thicker. Planning lots of tutorials for different hair types this year so will be bringing lots of hairspiration Xx

SO glad and cannot wait to see the magic you work! Especially since I'm running out of different twist and pins myself….I think I'm going to try two or three little ones like flowers at the temple and see how that goes….
WOW! You must have read my mind! I've been looking up all sorts of "up do's" for my medium length hair. My goal is not to wear my hair the same everyday. THANKS for doing this just for me 🙂

Really looking forward to this! Only recently I stumbled upon your blog, and am very happy I did! My hair is pretty long, roughly to the middle of my back, is very healthy etc… I just don't know what to do with it. Needless to say, I always look like a hippy, I am thrilled to see what you come up with in the next 30!
Cool idea! I've only just discovered hair pins to do a bun ad opposed to Bobby pins! I used to see this girl on my train that had beautifully pinned up hair and always wondered how she did it!!
