Big Hair Friday – Fishtail

March 7, 2014 By Hair Romance 11 Comments

fishtail braid

I do love a fishtail braid.

This gorgeous version is by Carmen Hamilton of The Chronicles of Her. The messy texture is perfect.

To recreate this style, follow my fishtail braid tutorial.

Happy Big Hair Friday and have a beautiful weekend xx

I wish my hair would do this, it always falls through since I have such thin hair. After the first 3 tries, I give up.

Love fish tails! Looks better when someone else does them though, makes them nice and even.

True, they can take ages to do and my arms get tired doing this in my own hair x

I find putting your hair in a ponytail first makes it easier to do a fishtail. If you use a small clear elastic you can always carefully cut it out afterwards. I think fishtails are one of the easier braids to do, but they definitely take the longest time to do. It would take ages in your hair! The first 8-10 sections you can’t really see what’s happening but then it starts to take shape and is easier to keep going x

I like it! I’ve never styled mine quite that messy, but it looks cute.
