Big Hair Friday from Milan

Happy Friday!

What a week! I’m currently in Milan and blogging from my hotel room before heading out to a few shows today. I’ll also be stalking the fash pack for more hair inspiration. You should have seen the crazy scenes outside the Prada show yesterday!

I’m here thanks to Schwarzkopf Australia. Did you know that Schwarzkopf in Italy is called Testanera? I love that it’s a direct translation.

Testanera pop up salon - Milan Fashion Week

Testanera are a major sponsor of Milan Fashion Week and they have a pop up salon set up in Piazza Mercanti. If you’re in Milan stop by and get your hair done. You can even get a haircut if you want! My tip is to arrive early to make an appointment.

I popped in on the first day and I let them do whatever they wanted to my hair! I ended up with some amazing big hair (and a braid thrown in too!)

How to get the look

Hair Romance - Big Hair in Milan - how to

  • My stylist started by separating the top section of my hair, and teasing it at the root.
  • She used mousse to slick the sides of my hair back and secured each side with an elastic. These section were then twisted and pinned into a bun.
  • She left the bottom half of my hair loose, and created two braids that followed the shape of the bun. She then pinned the ends in place above the bun.
  • A little more teasing to get extra big hair and then she shaped the top section of my quiff. A few pins and a lot of hairspray kept in in place all day.

The Duomo is in the centre of Milan and is amazing. You can go up to the roof terraces and I’m hoping to get time to go up there today.

You can follow more of my travels on my other blog Mr & Mrs Romance. I blog with my husband Jim and you can also check out out latest pics on Instagram – @MrandMrsRomance.

I haven’t commented in a while but I am still following your blog! I’ve been so busy (started school) and I met this girl who had awesome big hair in a mixture of blonde and brown and I told her about your blog to justify my “I love your big hair” compliment and she said she knows about your blog. 🙂 thought I should share since BIG HAIR FRIDAYs are one of my favorites posts.
Have fun in the beautiful city at such a grand event!

Thanks Sheila! My shoes are Charlotte Olympia and my bag was a gift from my Auntie. I’m not sure where it’s from but I’ll ask her x
