A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life – Coco Chanel

A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life - Coco Chanel - Hair Romance hair quote

“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.”

Coco Chanel wisely uttered this quote as she knew the power of a good haircut.

There is something about a major hair cut that is life changing. You’ll have at least 10 more minutes of free time every morning, and what could you achieve with that extra time in your day?

At this time of year, you may be thinking about changing up things in the style department. I have been cleaning out my wardrobe in an effort to declutter and wear more of my clothes more often. I find myself wearing the same things all the time, and perhaps it’s the same with your hair.

Why not mix things up your hairstyle this year. Learn a new look by trying one of these hairstyle tutorials, or are you considering cutting your hair into a pixie?

Are you making any major style changes with the start of the New Year?

She was right about the change part. I am African American with natural hair. Cutting my hair off after relaxing it for years, was the most life changing decision that I have ever made.

I’m seriously thinking of cutting my hair short again. I really love it short, but I tend to get bored with it really quickly…so I’m hoping I can find lots of inspiration on here and around the web to keep me interested…excited!

I wrote you a few months right before my big cut and I can’t agree more with this. It’s completely changed both my look and my relationship to my hair. I used to spend hours brushing it, washing it and waiting for it to dry which is a distant memory now. I’m not considering going even shorter, chin length. Change can be such a good thing.

So true! I chopped off 15 inches of hair all at once a little over a year ago and two months later, cut it nearly pixie short at the back and ear-length with layers in the front and bangs. So I didn’t go full-out-short but I was pretty close! My hair was so easy to wash, I used barely any shampoo compared to before, and I’ve learned to love my hair. Actually, you’ve taught me to love my hair, Christina. I’ve followed your blog for nearly a year and I felt disappointed at times I couldn’t do all the pretty braids you show, but I’ve learned to style my hair by cutting it short. The first step was using one simple texturizing product and that’s all. Now my hair is grown to my shoulders and I’ve been braiding it into a u-shaped crown from the temporals to the occipital (side to back of the head) in 5 minutes tops (and that’s doing it neatly).
Thank you really, for making me love my hair again! I don’t think I would have kept up with paying so much attention to my hair had it not been for you. I didn’t mind losing all my length because I never did anything with my hair anyways except tie it up in a boring ponytail. Cropping it short was definitely the right move for me since it taught me to appreciate my hair. Now I can’t wait to have it waist-long again and try all the beautiful hairstyles on your blog. <3

Oh thank you Janessa! Your lovely comment made my day! I think chopping 15 inches off was a massive and I’m so glad it’s changed the way your think about your hair. Thank you for commenting. Christina x
