If you follow me on Instagram, or Twitter, you will have seen a sneaky shot of me doing something crazy to my hair. Well, I would never colour my own hair but I put myself in the capable hands of Stevie English and all I said was maybe pink & orange?
Yes, I now have pink hair!
It’s been a long time since I did something so fun to my hair and I love it! It’s so bright, it’s affecting my wardrobe. I find myself wearing more neutrals as my hair seems to clash with my clothes.
Stevie used a semi permanent colour, painted on the the ends of my hair and a few pieces at the front. The colours will wash out and I’ll keep you up to date with how such a bright colour wears in my hair. For now, here’s some more photos of my new fun hair.
When was the last time you did something crazy with your hair?
π
I love how your hair looks with those colors!! The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the picture of the back of your head was, oddly, fire.
ooh thanks Becca xx
Wow, your hair is SO gorgeous!!!!! I can only fake it with the Kevin Murphy Color Bugs π
P.S. Congratulations on hitting 9 million hits! That is truly amazing! I think it’ll take me another 5 years to hit the 1 million mark π
Thanks Ling! You’ll hit it very soon if you keep making such great videos xxx
Just got purple bangs! Completely out of my norm. LOVE IT! Growing out my pixie cut so I’ll see what I decide to do next month π
That sounds fab Ruth! You’ll have so much fun growing out a pixie with crazy colour x
your hair turned out great! next time use Special Effects Hair Color in the color Fish Bowl. it is a teal that fades to a gorgeous teddy bear blue. I use it on one of my clients and matches her blue eyes perfectly. Dreamy!
Sounds gorgeous! I’m trying a new crazy colour next month but I’m going to let my haidrresser decide what to do
Omg I love it!
Thanks Melany! It was so much fun, and I’m trying something different next month…
Completely and utterly superb!! You look beautiful. This may sound so mundane and boring, be who would have thought multi-coloured hair would bring such dimension to your face and give you a beautiful glow. Gorgeous… LA x
thank you!
I love this look!
I spent my teenage years (late 80s/early 90s) doing wild things with my hair within the confines of private girls school rules.
I recently decided to try to grow my blonde highlights out of my very long hair but after nearly 2 yrs I’m getting sick of my ash blonde colour. I think this look would cheer it up perfectly.
I live in Sydney so maybe I should go visit Stevie and say “I’ll have what she’s having”.
Thanks Vanessa! Do it! It’s so much fun and Stevie has a great eye for colour x
i absolutely love this! What is the hair kit that you used?
Thanks Tiffany! My hairdresser Stevie used Directions colours
Your profile is GORGEOUS!
Love the pink, too!
Thanks Hannah xx
Wow and fantastic! Those colors are absolutely lovely on you! I love the combination of the pink and orange!
My “craziest” thing I did a while ago was to go from a very light strawberry blonde (my natural color), to Julianne Moore auburn. It was so strong that it was actually mahogany brown before it toned down to red. Trying to add some red to my hair has always been difficult to keep it from going too orange or too cherry.
Thank you! Love Julianne Moore’s hair x
So. Much. Fun. I love it! I have a question for you: I love the fun of bright colors in hair, but I don’t know how I feel about the permanance or even the dye–I’ve never colored my hair, or done anything to it except cut it, really. And I’ve been wondering about temporary color but am not sure how it would work on my red hair. On blonde it takes so easily and ends up looking great but I’m afraid that on mine the red would affect all the color. Do you know anything about that? Or about how hair chalking, temporary dye, etc, would work on red hair? Thanks!
Hi! It’s usually the case that red hair is the hardest to colour. To add bright colours you would first need to bleach your hair and then add the bright colours in. I am a huge fan of natural red hair so I would say leave your beautiful hair as it and try color.bug or clip in extensions. Hair shadows like color bug or chalking work on dark hair so they will add the brights but without the damage. Clip in extensions are also a no damage way to have more fun with your hair. Good luck xx
The color came off fabulously! I thought I was being brave when I went in just last week and got a subtle weave of caramel color all throughout my light brown hair. It looks very natural, but it’s the first time I’ve ever colored my hair, so it was “crazy” for me. =)
These pictures of you are my most favorite ones ever. Did you take them yourself?
Your colour sounds gorgeous Mikaela! First time colouring can be scary so it’s good to go for something natural. Thank you so much, I take all my hair photos with a tripod. Christina x
So much fun! Congrats on being brave and taking the plunge!
Thanks Nicola xx
I love the colour choices; they look great together and you wear them very well! Nice job, Stevie π Definitely got me thinking about getting creative with colour!
Thanks Kaeleigh! It’s the most fun I’ve had with my hair and my look
Gorgeous! It makes you look younger!
Thanks Caet! I feel younger with such crazy hair x
Oh my goodness – I LOVE this!!! Wish I was brave enough to do it myself π
Thanks Clare! Much easier to do now I’m not working in a conservative office
Love it! Love love love love love.
Have I mentioned I loved your ombrΓ© hair? No? Love it!
haha thanks so much Tine!
I love it!! I’m not sure I could personally pull it off.. Might be a bit radical for my job. The last ‘crazy’ thing I did to my hair was shave it all off for leukemia foundation a few years ago (my grandfather died of leukemia).. I feel like a bit of a change, Ive been eyeing the kevin murphy colour bug.
I’m sorry about your grandfather, and that is amazing that you shaved your head. That is amazing xx PS. Colorbug is a great way to try the colour for the weekend x
Love the colours I was looking at the pink when I was there the other week, def looking at doing it now I have seen it on your hair. love it x
Do it! It’s so much fun x
It looks magical! I think the easier question for me would be “when was the last time you had normal coloured hair”. Which would be many many years ago!
You ALWAYS have fun with your hair xx
So beautiful, love it!
Thanks Gio! xx
What a beautiful photo of you! May I ask what foundation/face products you’re using? Your skin is totally amazeballs.
Thank you! I’m using Benefit foundation, but I’m also using great lighting with a short focus just on my hair – my skin isn’t that flawless when it’s in full focus π
I LOVE IT!! I once bleached my hair white and fudged it Telstra sign orange. Like the brightest almost-red orange bit in your hair. But my whole head. It was almost impossible to get out!! Not my brightest moment, let me tell you (that’s puntastic!).
My favourite photo is the first one of your lips and the curls, followed closely by the bottom picture.
Thank you Tamsin! Orange is one my fave colours but don’t think I love it that much haha
I am adding orange in with my colours later in the year. I passed it up originally and I am now kicking myself. So I’m going to work on getting the blue out and replacing that with orange.
Which brand of colours do you use? Do you find they hold better than fudge colours?
Thanks! Loving the orange too. Stevie used Directions. I haven’t tried this before so can’t say how they compare. I’ll be posting photos to show how the colour lasts which might help. Stevie said Directions are his favourite colours.
I love the colour combo. The orange and pink work so well together. Looks great!
Thanks Christine! Stevie did a great job with the mix of colours
Wow, Wow, wow Christina, your hair looks amazing and I love that photo of you second from the bottom, I hope Stevie is putting that one up on the wall in his salon because you look amazing! Can’t wait to see what you do next…
Thanks so much Megan! After having my hair the same for the last two years I love the change, and have no idea what I will do next …x
LOVE it! The orange really makes it
Thanks Catharine! There’s such a subtle mix of shades. I’ll have to take some more photos of the underneath too
omg could you be any prettier… Just stunning…
aw thanks gorgeous, you’re making me blush xx
This is seriously beautiful. I really love it! For myself, I’ve never done anything crazy with my hair. The most extreme I’ve ever done is donating it, 12 inches, twice. Your hair, just gotta say it again, is fabulous.
oh thanks you Amy. I am so impressed that you’ve donated your hair not once, but twice. That’s amazing.
That looks awesome!~ I am seriously tempted π I think I may need some purple…
Thanks Christy! There’s always Color Bug if you don’t want to do it permanently
