Hair Romance loves pink ombre hair

July 24, 2012 By Hair Romance 65 Comments

If you follow me on Instagram, or Twitter, you will have seen a sneaky shot of me doing something crazy to my hair. Well, I would never colour my own hair but I put myself in the capable hands of Stevie English and all I said was maybe pink & orange?

Yes, I now have pink hair!

It’s been a long time since I did something so fun to my hair and I love it! It’s so bright, it’s affecting my wardrobe. I find myself wearing more neutrals as my hair seems to clash with my clothes.

Stevie used a semi permanent colour, painted on the the ends of my hair and a few pieces at the front. The colours will wash out and I’ll keep you up to date with how such a bright colour wears in my hair. For now, here’s some more photos of my new fun hair.

When was the last time you did something crazy with your hair?

I love how your hair looks with those colors!! The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the picture of the back of your head was, oddly, fire.

your hair turned out great! next time use Special Effects Hair Color in the color Fish Bowl. it is a teal that fades to a gorgeous teddy bear blue. I use it on one of my clients and matches her blue eyes perfectly. Dreamy!

    I love this look!

I spent my teenage years (late 80s/early 90s) doing wild things with my hair within the confines of private girls school rules.

I recently decided to try to grow my blonde highlights out of my very long hair but after nearly 2 yrs I’m getting sick of my ash blonde colour. I think this look would cheer it up perfectly.

I live in Sydney so maybe I should go visit Stevie and say “I’ll have what she’s having”.

Wow and fantastic! Those colors are absolutely lovely on you! I love the combination of the pink and orange!

My “craziest” thing I did a while ago was to go from a very light strawberry blonde (my natural color), to Julianne Moore auburn. It was so strong that it was actually mahogany brown before it toned down to red. Trying to add some red to my hair has always been difficult to keep it from going too orange or too cherry.

So. Much. Fun. I love it! I have a question for you: I love the fun of bright colors in hair, but I don’t know how I feel about the permanance or even the dye–I’ve never colored my hair, or done anything to it except cut it, really. And I’ve been wondering about temporary color but am not sure how it would work on my red hair. On blonde it takes so easily and ends up looking great but I’m afraid that on mine the red would affect all the color. Do you know anything about that? Or about how hair chalking, temporary dye, etc, would work on red hair? Thanks!

Hi! It’s usually the case that red hair is the hardest to colour. To add bright colours you would first need to bleach your hair and then add the bright colours in. I am a huge fan of natural red hair so I would say leave your beautiful hair as it and try color.bug or clip in extensions. Hair shadows like color bug or chalking work on dark hair so they will add the brights but without the damage. Clip in extensions are also a no damage way to have more fun with your hair. Good luck xx

The color came off fabulously! I thought I was being brave when I went in just last week and got a subtle weave of caramel color all throughout my light brown hair. It looks very natural, but it’s the first time I’ve ever colored my hair, so it was “crazy” for me. =)

These pictures of you are my most favorite ones ever. Did you take them yourself?

I love it!! I’m not sure I could personally pull it off.. Might be a bit radical for my job. The last ‘crazy’ thing I did to my hair was shave it all off for leukemia foundation a few years ago (my grandfather died of leukemia).. I feel like a bit of a change, Ive been eyeing the kevin murphy colour bug.

I LOVE IT!! I once bleached my hair white and fudged it Telstra sign orange. Like the brightest almost-red orange bit in your hair. But my whole head. It was almost impossible to get out!! Not my brightest moment, let me tell you (that’s puntastic!).

I am adding orange in with my colours later in the year. I passed it up originally and I am now kicking myself. So I’m going to work on getting the blue out and replacing that with orange.

Which brand of colours do you use? Do you find they hold better than fudge colours?

Thanks! Loving the orange too. Stevie used Directions. I haven’t tried this before so can’t say how they compare. I’ll be posting photos to show how the colour lasts which might help. Stevie said Directions are his favourite colours.
