Hairstyle tutorial – easy braided updo

After trying a braid in my new hair, I couldn’t wait to try more.

This easy updo is made from two basic braids (plaits), pinned up at the back of your head. Depending on how much hair your have, this can be a big or small knot.

I’m wearing my new Code Love earrings I won from the lovely Checks and Spots. They’re inspired by morse code and feature hidden messages. Mine say “love” and “life” and I love the happy message behind the design.

This hairstyle looks equally beautiful in long or medium length hair and would even work in shoulder length hair.

Step-by-step

1. Split your hair into two equal sections.
2. Braid (plait) each section and secure the ends with an elastic.
3. Stretch out your braids to emphasise the shape and to make your hair look thicker.
4. Fold and pin the braids in place at the back of your head with bobby pins.

Depending on how long your hair is, you can spiral the braids together, or just fold in half and pin in place.

It’s easy to pin braids in place and this makes for a strong updo that will stay in place all day long.
