In Australia, we have a hot Christmas. My husband is English and he says it still never feels like Christmas in the heat, but he’s getting used to it. This yearΒ I’ll be relaxing with my family having a BBQ and swimming in the pool. Maybe a trip to the beach in the late afternoon, or maybe just a nap in an air-conditioned room.
This Christmas I don’t need any gifts, but there is one thing I would like.
I’d love to know more about YOU! I can see in my stats what countries you live in, but that doesn’t tell me about you.
Please stop by and say hi in the comments below. I’ve love you to “de-lurk” and tell me about you, and why you read Hair Romance.
Sending you the very best wishes for the happiest of holidays, and I hope that you get everything you want.
Christina x
Sisi says
This is Sylvia wishing you a happy & healthy new year from the Netherlands. I bumped into Hair Romance because I needed help with blowdrying, putting up and braiding, probably because of the texture of my hair, it’s very fine and slippery and doesn’t hold shape well. Messing with my hair is one of my favorite past-times but while I have some skill with curling my hair with hot rollers, pincurls and curling iron I needed some extra advice and hairspiration on the other skills. Love your e-books and posts about blowdrying! Hope to read lots more lovely blogposts from you in 2013 π
Hair Romance says
Thank you so much Sisi! I really appreciate you stopping by to comment. Messing with my hair is one of my favourite past-times too. Happy New Year and looking forward to bringing you more tutorials and hairspiration in 2013 xx

Rita says
Hi π I am Rita, a 30 yo from Lisbon currently living in Oslo! I discovered your blog not long after I moved to Norway (circa 2 y ago, following my bf). Scandinavian girls play much more with hairstyles and braids than the Portuguese, so I ended up feeling a bit jealous and helpless here lol that’s where your blog and books came in and unlocked some secrets π I have rather thin hair (and now shoulder length) so many of the tutorials you show are not really working for me(no matter how much texturizer I use lol), nevertheless it’s great fun to follow you and dream of better hair days π have a wonderful 2013!
Hair Romance says
Hi Rita! Thanks for saying hello all the way from Oslo! I am going to do tutorials on other hair types this year so hope I can help with more styles for fine hair. Happy New Year xx
Erin says
I am from Calgary,Canada. I found your both via Pinterest and have since bought both your books. I am a geologist and most importantly a mom to two beautiful girls. I love what you do with braids because it suits my busy lifestyle! Merry Christmas and happy new year!

Hi Erin! Thank you so much for supporting Hair Romance! I love that my styles help you on busy mornings, that’s how I use them too. Hope you had a beautiful Christmas with your girls and Happy New Year! Xx
Jemma says
Hello π Merry Christmas. My name is Jemma and I live in England, and I can’t remember how long I’ve been following your blog.. perhaps a few months. I really enjoy your posts on how to do hairstyles such as the braids. You encourage me to experiment with my hair, whereas before you inspiring me, I wouldn’t make much effort at all. It really makes a difference to how I feel about myself when I try a new style π I also really adore what you’re doing with Nail Romance, as nail polish is one of my passions. Keep up the good work!
Hair Romance says
Hi Jemma! Thanks for following and I’m so excited about Nail Romance. I have lots of plans for 2013 and I’m just getting started π I really appreciate you stopping by to comment and hope you have a wonderful New Year! Xx
Rosalie says
Hi Christina,
I’ve been following you for a while now, via RSS. I live 15 minutes outside of Seattle, and most likely found you through pinterest back when you released your twist and pin e-book. I used that inspiration to wear that style to my aunt’s 60th birthday party, and got so many compliments on it (but it fell out in a hour or so, I need pro-pins).
I love reading about curly hair and how to tame it (or embrace the big). I also really like your how to talk to your hairdresser tips. I grew up with a big fuzz head and only learned to love my hair in my mid-20’s. Now I realize that curly-wavy hair is the best kind, because you can do everything with it (if you read a blog that helps explain how to π
Merry Christmas from a soggy Seattlite!

Hi! I live in Finland and found your blog via Pinterest when you were doing the first 30 hairstyles in 30 days challenge. Since then I’ve been visiting Hair Romance daily π My hair is very similar to yours, only a bit longer, so the styling and haircare tips you have been sharing have been very helpful. In fact I used to struggle with my curly, unruly hair until I found your blog. Now I have learned what my hair likes and I really love my locks π
Hair Romance says
Hi Kristiina! Thanks you so much for reading Hair Romance since my first hair challenge, and I’m so excited that it has helped you to love your hair! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment and hope you have a fab New Year! Xx

Hi Christina! I started reading your blog while living in New Orleans. I was looking for new ways to style my hair that would hold up to the hot, humid summer days there. I’m actually moving to Sydney in less than a week, my husband will be working for the University of Sydney. We’re really excited about the move and can’t wait to explore the city and country!!
Hair Romance says
Hi Meggan! How exciting and welcome to Sydney! I went to the University of Sydney, it’s such a beautiful campus and so close to the city. You’ll find lots of restaurants just down the road in King St, Newtown. Surry Hills is full of little shops and bars and Bronte is my favourite of the eastern beaches. Have fun exploring my home town and happy New Year! Xx
Kadri says
Hi! IΒ΄m Kadri from Estonia. IΒ΄m 29.

As for the Christmas – we had minus 15 on Christmas Eve and lots of snow. That kept the Christmas spirit coming π Not complaining at all.
Hair Romance says
Hi Kadri! I visited Estonia a few years ago and thought Tallinn was lovely! In the winter it would look even prettier! Thank you so much for reading Hair Romance. Happy Christmas and hoep you have a fabulous New Year too xx

I have both your e-books and I love them. I was kind of in a rut with my hair and then I found your blog that gave me ideas to style my hair so thank you! Happy Holidays and keep up the good work! π

I’m Kari, from Austin, Texas! Although I’m having a cold and snowy Christmas in Utah. I would rather be in the warmer weather of Texas. Or Australia!
I read your blog for hair inspiration (obviously)! I’m also excited that you started Nail Romance.
My husband and I have some English/Scotish friends that just moved to Adelaide, and they’re trying to get us to move there.

i’m a 21 year old girl from norway, currently studying english literature and creative writing in england. over the years i’ve grown more or less hair obsessed and found your blog on bloglovin in a frantic search for hair bloggers, realising there’s not a whole lot of them out there!
i love your posts on how to maintain healthy hair, your very useful tutorials and especially any posts about short hair. i’ve been wanting to do it for ages, without really having the courage. but i talked to my hairdresser about it and she told me that when you feel ready, you’ll do it. i’ll hold on to that! merry christmas and a happy new year x
Hair Romance says
Hi Karina! Thanks for finding me on Bloglovin’, and thank you for following. Short hair can be such a liberating experience. I keep changing my mind about whether I should go short again, hence why I write Bjg Hair Friday next to Short Cut Saturday π Hope you had a very Merry Christmas and here’s to an amazing 2013 xx
Kara says
Hey Hair Romance, my name is Kara Breeze, (Breeze is my middle name but i love it and use it always). I’m a hairstylist in South Jordan Utah going on 5 years. While most of my collegues have been doing hair since they were 18 I started at age 33 with 4 kids at home. It’s been a dream come true. I love checking out your website and love your style. I even follow you on Instagram.
Love your big hair Fridays. Being a short sassy hair girl myself I always follow your short styles for new ideas for my own. Thanks for your inspiration.
Hair Romance says
Hi Kara! What an amazing story, I love how you’ve taken a whole new career path after kids. You’re an inspiration! Thanks so much for reading and keep on creating beautiful hair xx PS. LOVE your middle name xx

Hi Christina,
I have been following your blog for a year now and more recently following your instagram too. I live in Canberra and l love following bloggers that are based in Australia (they are a rare find – it would be great if you could recommend a few of your favorites!). It’s great to see some Aussie bloggers making an impact!
Thanks for the hair inspiration, I may not be adventurous with my hair but you are building up the courage for me to step out of my ‘comfort zone’ and make the big chop, lose the hair straightener addiction and embrace my naturally curly hair!
Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to reading your blog in 2013! Hope you had a great Christmas Day (even if it was a bit colder than a normal Christmas!)
π
Hair Romance says
Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for your support! I follow quite a few Aussie bloggers on Twitter (you can check to see who I’m following) and that’s a great idea to share some of my favourites. I’ll post about them soon. I often share links to them on Facebook too.
I hope you embrace your curls, and have a fabulous New Year! I think 2013 is set to be an amazing year xxx

Hi Christina!
I am 19 years old and I am originally from Texas, however I go to school in Pennsylvania. I study theatre and political science. Your tutorials are useful when I have to do hair for shows!
I check Hair Romance Daily. I love Big Hair Friday (take the girl out of Texas…) and Short Cut Saturday (my dream haircut is an Anne Hathaway-pixie cut).
I love how you embrace your curly hair. I’m still learning to do that.
I hope you have a fantastic holiday! I would love to do a Christmas BBQ and pool party!
Hair Romance says
Thanks Sarah! Ha you’re like me, I love big hair & short hair, but not big short hair π It ended up being a very rainy day for our Christmas but I hope you have a beautiful day Xx
R says
Merry Christmas! I’m American but currently living in Japan. I found your blog when I was living in New York and trying to learn how to better manage my wavy/frizzy hair. I like your writing style! It’s very accessible for those of us who somehow made it through puberty without really learning to do our hair.
Hair Romance says
Hello! You’ve lived in two of my favourite places. Thanks so much for stopping to say hello and I hope you have a fab Christmas! Xx
JTA says
Hello! I like your blog very much–and I’ve been diligently working through the first e-book. But I haven’t mastered pinning my twists at *all*. I put in pins, but the twists start to droop and fall down in an hour or so. I’ll keep trying though.
I’m a professor at Harvard, so I have to dress conservatively. But since I have a conservative cut/color, I’d like to keep experimenting with fun styles. Keep ’em coming, please!
Hair Romance says
Thank you so much for reading & supporting Hair Romance! A tip for the twist & pin – try some stronger bobby pins. I use professional pins which makes a big difference. Hope this helps and have a Merry Christmas! Xx
Pia says
Hey Christina,
I can’t remember how exactly I first landed on your site but I know that it was the first “adult hair” site. I’ve been a regular visitor on a lot of US-sites of (mostly) Mormon moms and their daughters and while I always found some great inspiration, some of the styles were not suitable for a then-student / soon-to-be college graduate. So finding your site was really a stroke of luck for me (especially that I hate celebrity gossip and thus try to avoid most other “glam” sites). Though some of your tips do not apply to me at all (I have completely straight hair down my back that will not ever hold a curl), I still like to browse through all your tutorials when I encounter a “hair do’ers – block”. My Christmas wish: go skiing with my brother first in Germany, than in Austria!
Pia (Dutch 23 y/o female)
Hair Romance says
Hi Pia! That sounds like a beautiful Christmas wish! Hope you have a very happy holiday with your family, and thanks so much for reading Hair Romance Xx

Hi! I’m a relatively new follower from Columbus, Ohio. I found your blog when I repinned one of your braid tutorials on Pinterest. I’ve been growing my hair out for a few years so it’s finally long enough to try some new things, and your site has been great! Love the product recommendations too. Merry Christmas! π
Hair Romance says
Thanks so much Sarah, and so glad you came over from Pinterest. Hope you have a beautiful Christmas Xx
Mariette says
Hi there!
I’m de-lurking for once. I am from the Netherlands. I really like the creativity but still wearable things you do with your hair. I like to braid my hair in all different kind of styles. SInce I’m growing my hair I found there are endless possibilities to wear my hair. I bought both your books and re-read them every time I’m looking for inspiration to do something with my hair. Everytime I get numerous compliments about it.
So thank you for inspiring and I wish you all the best for next year!
Xx Mariette

Hi!
I’m a fifteen year old, german girl and I’ve started following the blog this year, because I always did’nt know how to style or care my hair right. This blog rescued me.
Here in Germany we most have a cold sometimes white Chrismas, but this year it’s about 15 degree !! I’ll celebrate the holy evening with my family, after visiting the church we will have dinner and then we get the presents at the evening. Finally at the first Chrismasday we will have lunch at a restaurant like every year.
A merry Chrismas to all who loves this amazing blog like me and thanks for this great posts!! ; )
Hair Romance says
Hi Lara! Wow, that’s really warm for your Christmas! Hope you have a beautiful day & thanks so much for your support. It means so much to me xx
KT says
I’m from Sydney, Australia, and a relatively new reader (subscribed via RSS). Like others, I was Googling for hair tips! I had short hair until age 18 and have had long hair since then (I’m in my late 30s), so I didn’t grow up learning how to braid my hair or do buns or anything like that. I remain fairly useless, but I’m determined to do something more interesting with my just-past-the-shoulder dark brown wavy/curly hair. I love your blog and I’m enjoying experimenting with my hair!
Have a great Christmas! I don’t think it’s going to be boiling hot tomorrow (unlike today) but I’m sure it’ll still be a lovely Christmas Day in Sydney.
Hair Romance says
Hello KT! I fear this hot weather is about to go but loving watching the storms. Thanks so much for subscribing and for stopping by to comment. Hope you have a fab Christmas too! Xx
curlywurly says
Hiya,
I’m a fellow aussie (from Victoria – south west coast). I dont exactly remember why or how I started reading your blog.. I am a fellow curly (well wavy/wurly/curly) and I am forever looking for the next best thing for my hair (or new ways to style etc). I love all your tutorials, tips and hints and your personal responses to questions/posts etc.
Im currently growing out my hair (I started with a shaved head a few years back) and I am now at about bra strap length with my curls/waves. I would love to get to waist, but would be happy with just below my bust. I love looking at and trying your different styles, its helping me keep motivated to grow and less likely to cut (I tend to get bored quickly with hairstyles).
I hope the sydney weather holds out for you π xo
Hair Romance says
Hello! Yes, I can feel a southerly about to hit. I do love a summer storm π Thanks so much for reading and I have lots of new tutorials coming in January. Have a fab Christmas! Xx
Chardonnay says
Hello!
I’m from Houston, Texas, and while it’s technically winter here I think our Christmases have a bit more in common with those in Australia. For example the high for Christmas Eve here is supposed to be 24 (degrees Celsius), not exactly hot, but definitely not cold either. Oh well, evergreen trees work with all temperature ranges, and blizzards would make last minute shopping really inconvenient, right?
I read hair romance because I love the “Big Hair Friday” posts, and I have a major crush on your hair! I love the styling tips, even if a lot of the looks aren’t exactly practical for my “Rapunzel length” hair (it touches the waistband on my jeans, when in a ponytail).
Your blog inspires me to be nice to my hair, and expand it’s horizons beyond down or ponytail/bun.
Hair Romance says
Hi Chardonnay! Your hair sounds amazing, perfect mermaid hair π Thank you so much for saying hello saying such lovely things about Hair Romance. Big Hair Fridays are one of my faves too. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas x

Hello! I’m reaching late twenties and live in Las Vegas and I follow your blog because I use to be terrible with doing anything with my hair but lately I’ve become more determined to try new looks and your blog gives me great ideas! Merry Christmas!
Hair Romance says
Hi JessRaquel! Thanks for saying hello! Maybe trying new things with your hair could be a New Year’s resolution? Happy Christmas x
Rachel says
I found Hair Romance while I was searching for a 60s hairstyle that would work with layers and totally un-teasable hair. Didn’t have any luck on that goal, but spent the next few hours browsing back through your blog π It’s a great place to get some random inspiration, and a lot of fun to read!
I live near Melbourne, and I have an English friend who’s always saying the same thing about summer Christmas. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) having a white Christmas in New York next year!
Thanks for reading my blog, too!
Hair Romance says
Hi Rachel! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas in New York next year too! Hope to meet up over there π
Rachel says
I started reading Hair Romance, probably a year ago. I live in Minnesota where it’s pretty cold right now and I studied abroad in Sydney during college. I loved it and reading your blog reminds me of that π I had emailed you about a hair question and you responded and even wrote a post about it! I really like your ebooks too and I feel like a lot of bloggers aren’t doing things like that yet.
Happy Holidays!
Hair Romance says
Hi Rachel! Thanks for reading Hair Romance for so long. Glad I could help, and maybe I should start a weekly Q&A for hair questions next year? Hope you get a white Christmas x
Emma says
I’m from UK, I can understand why your husband may say it doesn’t feel like Christmas in the heat although I’d love a BBQ right now, not had one since very early September! I found your blog when googling short hair cuts, I remember reading the how to grow out a pixie cut which was in your top posts. I added your blog to my google RSS feeds and read it that way. I’m not sure if RSS feeds tend to show in stats, it isn’t something I can see on my blogger stats and I do wonder myself if I may have a wider audience than I “know” about!!
Hair Romance says
Hi Emma! RSS doesn’t show up in stats unless they click through to your blog. Thanks so much for subscribing! One good thing about a cold Christmas is that you can eat the full Christmas lunch without worrying about wearing a bikini afterwards, lol! I also miss the yorkshire puds, still can’t make them like my mother-in-law. Happy Christmas!
