Maybe it’s just me, but I love watching behind the scenes. A little while ago I was invited to go behind the scenes on a new video tutorial with Alan White, Hair Director for ghd and I jumped at the chance.
I’m so curious to watch how they work, both on the hair and making the video. I’ve been filming some tutorials myself (stay tuned for more Hair Romance TV!) but my camera and I are no match for this setup.
Alan White is looking very serious here but he’s hilarious. We were laughing in between takes and you can just see me in the mirror behind him.
He gave me a tip for the best hair pins for braids and told me he reads Hair Romance. Thanks Alan!

I love Alan’s tip to use your hairdryer to relax any waves that look too neat and perfect. Gently warming the hair lets you reshape it to sit exactly how you like it.
What’s your trick for creating beachy waves? And do you love going behind the scenes?
My trick? Well, to loosely blow dry my hair or just air drying it if it’s on a weekend, then using some “sea salt spray” spritz some on my semi dry hair. My hair is not strictly straight and turns a bit wavy when it hits humidity so, by letting it air dry, I can usually get a bit of waves happening.

That is a fantastic tutorial, and I agree- the tip about using the hairdryer to relax curls makes perfect sense. Something I’ll definitely try soon.

I have really fine hair and I literally tried everything from curling irons, that straightener technique, heavy duty hairspray… Anything and everything to keep curls in my hair and they always fell out and never came out the way I wanted them to. Then I finally tried a curling wand and it’s the only thing that works, I swear by it. I get those great beachy waves all the time now and it stays for days, i don’t even use hairspray or mousse. If anyone has difficult hair like mine I suggest trying a curling wand.
