Bored of your hair and looking for a quick hair fix? It’s as simple as changing your part.
It seems too easy, but switching the side that you part your hair will totally change your hair. At first it might seem weird. You’re not used to seeing your hair to the other side but try it. Leave it for a while and see how you feel.
Don’t let that hair boredom allow you to make a mistake at the salon in asking for a new haircut. Work with what you’ve got and just switch it up.
The bonus of switching your part is that you get way more volume on the top of your head. You can go for a full 90s inspired flick and get some mega root lift.
The deep side part
Go for a subtle change with a deep side part.
You can almost create a faux side swept fringe with this part too. This is a great style if you normally wear a side part and are just looking for a small change.
The opposite side part
Let’s really go big by flicking your hair all the way over to the other side.
This instantly changes your look and creates so much lift and body at the top of your hair. At first it does feel weird to part your hair on the other side but once you get used to it, you’ll be hooked.
Down the middle
Centre parts can be a divisive style. (pun intended)
They can highlight the symmetry (or asymmetry) of your face. They’re also not that flattering if you have a big nose that you want to minimise.
My version of a centre part is much easier to wear. It’s not exactly dead centre, and I haven’t gone for a clean part either. This relaxed part is really wearable and more modern.
The zig-zag part
The zig-zag part is my go-to style in the week before my colour appointment at the hairdresser.
By avoiding the straight line, you disguise the regrowth line in your hair.
The trick to making this part look more wearable is to keep it a little messy and uneven. I also like to add a bit of volume powder at the roots to hide my roots even more.

Sometimes my hair just parts in the middle by itself when it gets a bit longer. Usually I’m more of a side part and it’s going to the right… wait I’m confused. The parting line is on my left. Yes, that’s it. But yes, it does change up my look even if I change my parting to the other side or centre.
So funny how our hair can have a really obvious part that it wants to follow. I do like your hair with a deep side part Norlin xx
This is a great post. I particularly like the idea of the zigzag part to hide regrowth. Do you have any more tips for hiding regrowth? And how long do you wait between colour appointments?
Hi Maria, I get my hair coloured every 6 weeks. Curly hair makes it easier to hide regrowth compared to straight hair. It makes it harder to see the distinct growth line. I also add powder to get more volume at the roots. The more volume, the less regrowth you can see x
