I’m sharing the how-to for one of my all time favourite styles, the one that started it all – the Twist & Pin. I even made a video – eep!

I'm growing my hair out from a very short pixie for the first time in about ten years, and I have NO clue how to pin the twists. It looks like you're just sticking them in there…but I do that and it immediately falls down. Do you have any tips for the hair-clueless?

Those are awesome! I am trying to figure out how to do them on shorter hair. They are lovely though. I am definitely going to use these ideas on my daughter. She has long locks. 🙂

@Emily – Thank you! For long hair I recommend sectioning your hair first into a ponytail or several ponytails. Then twist & pin pieces from the ponytails. This way the bands on the ponytails hold most of the weight of your hair, making it easier to twist & pin.

@Leilani – Thanks! Upstyles are where curly girls have an advantage! Our hair is naturally more textured and will hold in place more easily. Dead straight hair needs texturising products to help keep volume at the roots and to help twist and stay in place. +1 for curls xx
@Michele – I use Goriki brand bobby pins. They are so much better than other pins I have used and it makes all the difference. For short hair you don't need to twist so much, rather focus on folding your hair. You can create amazing shapes by pinning back n one side only, or creating height at the front. Have a play and see what styles you like!

Such a good video – nice and short! So interesting to see the way you twist with your left and then your right. The weather looks awesome – in NZ it's been raining for MONTHS.
