I found this video from the International Space Station fascinating!
Astronaut Karen Nyberg is currently on the International Space Station and was also the 50th woman in space. She is often asked about hygiene questions in space, and here she gives a demonstration as to how she washes her long hair in space.

It’s probably not very useful, as I’m not sure you’ll ever need to worry about how to wash your hair in zero gravity but I’m so intrigued.
In case you were wondering, the shampoo she uses is called No Rinse Shampoo.
Did you ever want to be an astronaut when you were little? Would you ever go on a space flight for a holiday?
Natalie says
I never wanted to be an astronaut, so I guess I never really thought about how they’d wash their hair! That was such an amazing video, but golly, I don’t think I’d cope!

I could not cope at all!

Thanks for posting this video! It’s really fascinating! I love following the events on the International Space Station, but I hadn’t seen this video. As someone who has had very long hair most of my life, I’ve often thought it would be very strange to have that “halo” of long hair in zero gravity. I’d never considered how to wash it, though!

I can imagine her hair getting tangled! I wonder if your hair grows faster or slower in space?

What a shame the video link (or link you provided below it) doesn’t work on my ipad. The photo is intriguing. Imagine keeping hair nice in zero gravity. My hair is fluffy enough! 🙂

And really bizarre!

Can you imagine how hard doing everyday things would be? So bizarre!

That is the most interesting and bizarre video I think I have ever watched!! I couldn’t look away!!

Fascinating!! Never thought about it before, but like you said, so intriguing.

Glad I’m not the only one! Now I keep thinking about how the cope with everything at zero gravity, so weird!
