There are only two ways to part your hair this year: down the middle or go wide.
The deep side part is a huge celebrity hair trend, and it was the favorite red carpet hairstyle of 2013 (so far…).
It takes a few forms with the 1960s side sweep as seen at Marc Jacobs, and it goes vintage glamour when paired with soft, brushed out waves.
However the real reason the deep side part is going to be such a big hair trend in 2013 is because of the new fashion trend – ear jewellery.
Statement ears are the new statement necklaces.
Ear cuffs, side earrings and ear adornments are huge for 2013. Upcoming Australian jewellery designer, Ryan Storer, built his first collection on this gorgeous earpiece.
Storer recently collaborated with Kerastase on their release of Cristalliste to design this stunning rose gold ear jewellery. Delicate strands of rose gold chain hang like wisps of hair.
When wearing such a gorgeous piece the only way to wear your hair is with a deep side part. You want to show that statement ear piece off in all its glory, with your hair tucked behind your ear and the rest sweeping casually over your other shoulder.
How to get Isabelle Cornish’s look
Step 1. Wash and condition your hair. Paloma Rose Garcia used Kérastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Fins followed by Lait Cristal on Isabelle’s hair. She also added 2 pumps of Cristalliste Lumiére Liquid through towel dried lengths and ends for great shine.
If you have fine hair, also use a volume mouse such as Age Premium Mousse Substantif to the roots.
Step 2. Blow dry your hair completely. Create a deep side part by using the arch of your eyebrow as a guide, parting your hair back to your crown.
Step 3. Using a 1-inch curling tong, start at the front and vertically curl your hair section to your cheekbones. Curl your remaining lengths by holding the tongs horizontally. Pin curls to scalp and leave to cool.
STYLE TIP: For longer lasting curls, spray each hair section with a fine hairspray like Kérastase Chroma Sensitive Laque Fixante before curling.
Step 4. Remove pins and use a soft bristle brush to gently relax your hair into waves. Sweep your hair over your shoulder, on the same side as your bangs. Smooth your hair on the other side and secure with a pin behind your ear. Finish with hairspray to hold the style in place.

I’ve been on the lookout for ear-cuffs for years now!
I’m glad to see them gaining popularity – it’s means that the trend will finally trickle its way down to our little corner of the world, too 😀 .

I think this trend is super! I’m sure it’d add some volume into my fine waves 🙂 I usually go for fine jewellery, but I’m keen to try this.

Changing up your part adds instant volume, let me know how it goes in your hair x
Dallas Landrum says
I have thick curly hair, so while they look stunning, my first thought is that even with a deep side part my hair will get caught and pulled in no time flat! Oh well, still appreciate the look.
Side note: Isabelle Cornish – I’m assuming there’s a relation to Abby Cornish, since they look so much alike?
Hair Romance says
Hi Dallas, you could pin or braid your hair back on the side if you want to try this look. And yes, Isabelle is Abby’s little sister. She’s 18 and works as an actor and model.

I’ve always been a fan of the deep side part and I don’t think it ever really goes out.
Now those earpieces I am loving. I’ve never noticed these before. (Credit card out and searching for a pair)

I agree Michelle, those old school Hollywood waves always look beautiful. I love a deep part in curly hair too as it adds more volume at the top. Ear cuffs also on my shopping list!
Sarah says
I LOVE this new trend! 🙂 I’ve always been a fan of statement earrings and turning it into a mega cuff is just awesome, to me! 🙂 I had an aysymmetrical cut for a few years and so like the deep side part look a lot too.
Hair Romance says
Thanks Sarah! Me too. Ear cuffs are a bit 90s, but some of these new ones are stunning
