Must-have hair accessory: Dolce & Gabbana SS13

September 28, 2012 By Hair Romance Leave a Comment

I always get excited for the Spring/Summer shows but as you go in to winter the summer clothing trends seem so far away.

One of the reasons I love hair is that you don’t need to wait 6 months to try the new trends. Grab a colourful scarf and twist & pin your hair up, as seen at Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week. Created by Guido for Redken, this vintage-inspired style perfectly suited the Sicilian summer feel of the Dolce & Gabbana collection.

How to get the look:

  1. Apply aerate 08 all-over bodifying cream-mousse from roots to ends to create some volume with a little texture when you blow-dry.
  2. Blow-dry your hair straight back so that there’s no part.
  3. Tie on the silk headscarf folded about two inches thick, leaving about an inch of hair from the hairline, knotting scarf on the bottom to the side.
  4. Pin hair up into a “rough updo” that’s almost a twist or a knot. You don’t need to be too precise, work with your hair length and type to create a loose style, and pin with large hair pins.

Looking for more hair-spiration? Here’s five ways to wear a headscarf with your top knot.

The best thing about this style? This would be the perfect messy upstyle when you haven’t had time to wash your hair. Adding a colourful scarf is the perfect distraction and makes this easy hairstyle look more polished.

What’s your trick to make a messy hairstyle more polished?
