Just a little hair update about my fab new colour!

On Friday I went to see Stevie of Stevie English Hair in Bondi Junction and I said he could do what he liked! I love trusting a great hairdresser to do what they do best.

It’s the first time I haven’t had highlights in a long time, which I think my hair is happy about. Too much lightening is starting to take its toll on my dry, curly hair.

Last time I had some gorgeous colours put in my hair underneath so that they only showed when I put my hair up.

This time Stevie added in a lot more colour, and it changes depending on where I part my hair. He uses Directions colours which is a semi-permanent colour that washes out. It’s easy to apply in blonde hair, but dark hair needs to be lightened first if you want to achieve the really bright colours.

Semi-permanent colour lasts around 2-6 weeks depending on your hair porosity and how often you wash your hair. You can see how long pink hair dye lasts in my post here.

I’m pretty quick now with my routine for styling curly hair but I let my hair air dry now if I have time. I used Unite Boing curling cream on my hair when it was really wet, then a little Frizzy Logic to smooth the fuzzies and define my curls.

My latest quick trick for styling curls is to touch up any straight sections with a curling wand and I’m making a video to show you how to do it. More on that soon.

What do you think of my new crazy colour?

Very punk-rock inspired, but not totally on the other end of the spectrum. I just hope my daughter doesn’t start asking me for this look! HA!

    Gorgeous! Very flattering.
It inspires me, but my hair is darker with a bit of (ahem) grey. Any ideas for something subtle?

Thanks Elaine! What about a mix of caramel highlights to blend the grey?
