Happy New Year!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday, what do you have planned to ring in the New Year?
This year I’ll be celebrating the New Year with friends over a beautiful dinner on Sydney Harbour and watching the fireworks. Wherever you are in the world, I recommend watching the Sydney fireworks on YouTube. I may be biased, but I think our harbour looks so beautiful on New Year’s Eve, and we put on a great show.
Whether you are planning to attend a glamorous soiree, or curl up at home with loved ones, here are some hairstyles to inspire you for your New Year’s Eve party.
New Year’s Eve Party Hairstyle Ideas
Go Natural!
Love your hair and wear it the way it naturally falls. Whether you’re curly or straight, don’t fight it and have fun with your hair. At least you won’t have to worry about the weather or your hair falling out of an updo.
Side sweep hairstyle
Nothing adds a little drama quicker than a deep side part. Looking straight ahead in a mirror, draw an imaginary line from the outer of your iris through the arch of your eyebrow up to your hairline to find the perfect place for your deep side part.
Sweep all your hair over to one side and pin the other side flat against your head. This is a great style for flirting if you have your eye on someone special to kiss at midnight…
Wear jewellery in your hair
Accessorise with your favourite jewels in your hair for New Year’s Eve.
The giant top knot will keep your hair up and in place till the ball drops at midnight, and well into the early morning. Add some colour or sparkle with your favourite necklace or bracelet used as a hair accessory.
Leave it loose
Blowdry your hair smooth and use a curling wand to create some loose waves at the end of your hair. Brush through with a bristle brush (like my fave Mason Pearson) and break up the curls with your fingers for a soft finish.
My tip: Make the curls tighter than you want them, as they will drop as the night goes on. If you start with tighter curls you’ll still have those waves by the end of your party.
