Top 5 beauty trends from NYFW

September 18, 2011 By Hair Romance 4 Comments

Nicole Miller

Ruffian

Nail it

Loved the nail art at Nicole Miller and the bright yellow nails at Karen Walker. Ruffian’s mixed manicures were sensational. Check out Refinery29’s round up of the nail trends to try.

Stephen Burrows

Orange

Orange was everywhere on the runway and I love the orange red lips at Sergio Davilla and the pop orange at Stephen Burrows.

Milly by Michelle Smith
Anna Sui – that turban! I DIE.

Bright lips

The trend for bright lips continues (hoorah!) and if orange is not your thing, there’s every colour under the sun to try. Purple and pink made appearances in matte finishes at Richard Chai and Nanette Lepore and red lips reigned at Anna Sui.  By the way, that sequin turban is the best thing I have ever seen. I must have it.

Michael Kors

Safari Tan

The return of printed pants and tribal influences meant beautiful sunkissed faces. I don’t advocate tanning so fake it with bronzer and a hint of pink blush for a perfect no-makeup-makeup.

BCBG Max Axria

Wet look hair

I saw this coming and it made an appearance at a LOT of shows including BCBG Max Azria and Alexander Wang. This is a high fashion trend that won’t go down so well at your 9-5, however make it work for you by not having to wash your hair and add some high shine gel spray for a slick night look.

What’s your favourite NYFW beauty trend? I love the orange lip and can’t wait to give it a try. What trends will you be trying?

can you advise what are the best brand or type of bobby pins to use for up styles? My pins keep popping out of my hair.

    thanks

@Lianne – I am loving orange it at the moment. I've been wearing orange nails and I love the idea of orange eyeliner.

I know wet look hair is one of those odd trends but I can't help feeling we'll see it making a comeback (think 80s Robert Palmer girls)

Yay for orange! Im trying to work that sensibly into my day look ATM. Maybe not lips but maybe a flick or orange eyeliner perhaps? Won't be touching wet look hair. Its one thing I just don't get, never have, never will.
