4 hair trends you’ll love from Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney

August 28, 2012 By Hair Romance 2 Comments

Looking for a way to update your wardrobe? Start with your hair.

Take inspiration from the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival (MBFF) catwalks in Sydney and try these hair trends.

The ballerina bun

Ballerina bun hair trend

Simple, and always stylish, the low ballerina bun adds sophistication.

Best for: All hair types. Fake it with a hair donut if you don’t have enough hair.

Styling tip: Blowdry your hair flat to your head to smooth it down. Catch any flyaways with hairspray such as Redken Fashion Work 12.

Sleek and straight hair with a colour splice

Sleek straight hair with colour sections

A centre part adds style to this sleek look. A pop of colour underneath adds some unexpected fun.

Best for: Long, straight to wavy hair.

Styling tip: Use a heat protectant such as Redken Iron Silk 07 when straightening your hair. Clip in extensions let you fake the colour without damaging your long locks.

Wet look hair

Wet look catwalk hair

Relax after swimming knowing your hair is on trend, or recreate this raked back look for a night out with mousse and gel.

Best for: All hair types, looks great in short hair too.

Styling tip: To recreate the wet look, blow dry mousse into dry hair then add shine and brush back with your fingertips with a gel such as Redken Water Wax 03.

Deep side part

Add some drama with deep, sleek side part.

Best for: All hair lengths

Styling tip: To decide where to place your side part, look straight on in a mirror and make a line up from the outer side of your iris through the arch of your eyebrow. Use a tail comb to create a neat part. Smooth with pomade or hairspray to keep it sleek.

Do you look to the catwalks for hairspiration? Which is your favourite hair trend?
