Do you know who throws a good party?
Hairdressers!
On Monday night I attended the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFAs) at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney. The AHFAs are the longest running independent hairdressing awards in Australia and the whole night was a celebration of the industry.
I’m so inspired by the passion in the Australian hairdressing industry, and to have so much talent in one room made for an incredible night.
Leading editorial stylist Richard Kavanagh and actress Erica Heynatz hosted the event and Dami Im, winner of X Factor, wowed the crowd with her incredible voice.
What a year it has been for The Journal magazine! That’s me with The Journal’s editor, the gorgeous Viola Doyle. We met for the first time at the 2013 AHFAs and I’m grateful to now call her a friend.
The Journal was relaunched last year by Creative Director David Mannah, and – with Viola as editor – they have created a fresh fashion-focused hair magazine.
The AHFAs celebrate all aspects of the hairdressing industry, including makeup artists and stylists. I was proud to be one of the judges for the product categories and I’ll be sharing more about some of the best new products I trialled for the AHFAs.
Congratulations to all the winners – here is a full list of all those honoured at the 2014 AHFAs.
