Have you seen the movie “The Party” with Peter Sellers?
It’s one of my all time favourite movies. Not because it’s the best movie I’ve ever seen, though it is very funny, but because I have so many sentimental memories attached to watching it as a kid with my dad. I later made all my friends watch it and I am always surprised when someone hasn’t seen it so I make them watch it too. It’s a classic.
I also adore the house where the party takes place. It’s mid-century heaven!
But as Hair Romance is all about the hair, I’ll get back to topic. I love the hair in this movie. I grew up watching old movies so I always had a love for 1960s styles. Here are some of my favourite looks from The Party.
Do you like to watch the same movies again or do you prefer to watch something new?
PS. Thinking of starting a regular series on movies with great hair. What do you think? What’s your favourite hair in a movie?

Love that The Party is one of your favourite movies; my parents made me watch it and it definitely IS hilarious! Parents have surprisingly good taste in movies…sometimes 😉
A movie-hair series would be awesome!

haha thanks Kaeleigh!

I absolutely *adore* Horikita Maki in “Innocent love” and I sometimes wish I had the courage to cut my hair that short.

YES! Love that idea!

It’s an inspired idea! As I was growing up I often tried to imitate my favourite actresses’ hair. My 10 year old self desperately wanted to have a side part with a flip like Tatum O’Neal in International Velvet http://www.virtual-history.com/movie/image/4975
My mum introduced me to one of her favourite coming-of-age films called “The World of Henry Orient”, it follows two girls on the cusp of “womanhood”. Thought you’d like to see the change in their hairstyles – here they are at the beginning, pig-tails and bob

and here they are at the end (scroll down a bit to see the photo)

Thanks for the wonderful blog!

I’d have to say my favorite movies for hair (that I use for inspiration on a regular basis anyway) are generally medieval-themed. Lord of the Rings, naturally, Chronicles of Narnia, Ever After… all surprisingly simple hairstyles to recreate.

Lots of beautiful braids and half up dos, great movie hair inspiration!

Favourite hair would have to be Audrey H’s in ‘My Fair Lady’–when she goes to the ball
Hair Romance says
Beautiful! I think a few Audrey movies will have to feature soon

I love 60’s hair. I watched “How To Steal A Million” and the whole time I admired Audrey Hepburn’s bob in it. Here’s the link to a picture of it: http://www.hpvf.com/servlet/Detail?no=5927

Oh I love that shot!

The Party makes me laugh more than any other movie – my whole family likes to drop “birdie num nums” into conversations out of the blue just to crack each other up:) And all that fabulous sixties style, and that crazy house, and all the awkwardly painful moments – I love it!
Hair Romance says
oh yay Clare! I was worried no-one would get it. Birdie num nums always cracks me up!

YES, totally do a series on movies with great hair! I would love that! Grace Kelly would have to feature in there somewhere. Maybe one of her Hitchcock films. She has beautiful hair.
Hair Romance says
Oh I love Grace, such a style icon. I think I should do a post just on her hair
