Try this quick and easy hairstyling hack to tame those annoying baby fine hairs.
When you subscribe to my weekly newsletter, I like to ask you a question. What’s your biggest issue with your hair?
Katie wrote to me today about issues with small, baby fine hair around her partline that are causing her problems.
I realised there is a simple trick to taming these hairs that I hadn’t yet shared on the blog. It’s a bit weird as it involves a toothbrush. Preferably a different one than you use on your teeth!
Previously I’ve written about how to tame fuzzy flyaways which featured one of my all time favourite products. The John Frieda touch up tamer wand. Sadly I believe they’ve discontinued this product. Don’t you hate it when that happens?!
I’ve managed to stockpile a few but in case you don’t have one, this cheat hairstyling hack does almost the same thing. It won’t look as cute in your handbag but it does work.
The toothbrush trick for baby hairs
Take a small toothbrush and spray it with hairspray. Then gently brush those annoying baby fine hairs back in line with your part.
It’s that simple!
Like I said before, I don’t recommend brushing your teeth with this hairspray covered toothbrush! Buy a cheap, flat kids’ toothbrush for your hairstyling needs. The stiffer and flatter the bristles the better.
Have you ever used a toothbrush to style your hair? What product do you wish wasn’t discontinued? What’s your favourite hairstyling hack?

Just wanted to let you know I just saw the John Frieda ‘Full Repair’ Touch-up Flyaway Tamer mentioned in a September favourites by Siobhan (who’s in Ireland) @ LetzMakeupBlog.com so maybe it’s still available after all? Online could be an option if they’ve just stopped selling it in Australia.

RIGHT! Baby toothbrush being added to this week’s shopping list. So simple, yet so genius!

Thanks babe! And it really works, plus I’ve seen it used backstage at fashion week so it’s totally pro 😉

That’s such a clever advice! 🙂 Thank you!
You say that the discontinued John Frieda was one of your all time favourite products. I would very much want to hear about the rest of them, please.
Hair Romance says
Thanks Anna! Yes, that’s a great idea for a post!

I like this idea! I’m going to use the toothbrush idea for flyaway static too!! BTW: do you have any posts/tutorials on how to do quiff hairstyles like Gwen Steffani does with a ponytail?
Hair Romance says
good idea, it definitely works for static too! There’s a tutorial in my 30 Days of Twist & Pin Hairstyles ebook but I haven’t done one on the blog before. Adding it to my to do list x
