Makeup Monday: Concealers

March 4, 2013 By Hair Romance 12 Comments

No-one has perfect skin but with a clever touch of concealer you can fake blemish free skin and hide your tired eyes.

These are my secret weapons for freshening up my face, pretending I got to bed early and and hiding imperfections.

Hair Romance - Makeup Monday Concealers

Makeup Monday: Concealers

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage: This concealer truly is my fave. With the mix of two tones in the compact, you can match your skin all year round. It’s incredible for covering blemishes. It can also be used under eyes though I find it a little drying so I mix it with my moisturiser. I wear SC-3 and always apply with a small synthetic brush. Available from Sephora and Nordstrom.

YSL Touche Eclat: A cult favorite for a reason. This light, illuminating concealer can be put on while you’re still half asleep. Apply under your eyes to reflect light away from dark circles and add a touch on the top of your lips to highlight your cupid’s bow. I can’t live without it. Available from Nordstrom.

L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Concealer*: Amazing value for the price and a very good dupe for the YSL Touche Eclat. The formula is light and just a touch more translucent than the Touche Eclat. I prefer the coverage of the YSL but this can’t be beaten for value. Available from Target and Priceline.

Benefit Fake Up*: Brand new to the market, this new brightening concealer is surrounded by a moisturiser to ensure it hydrates and won’t crease. It is so easy to apply and wears well. With light-medium coverage, make sure you blend with you finger or a brush. Available from Benefit stores and Sephora.

What’s your favorite concealer?

Thanks Rachel! I haven’t tried the Napoleon one, but a palette is always a good idea as you can always create the right shade for your skin x

Benefit’s Fake Up, looks really impressive. Really like how it contains a moisturizer, to prevent creasing. That is such a great idea!

Thanks Michelle. I only discovered it last year and I find the compact last for so long! It will be a definite repurchase for me too x

I love the touche eclat as a highlighter and the laura mercier is always onhand for spots. Thanks for the Lisa Elridge link- I’ve just spent the last 45 mins watching her! The concealer one is brilliant.

I’m always on the search for a new concealer… My skin has spent the last year having a ‘teenage like hissy fit, leaving me with unpredictable adult acne and scaring that is a joy to try and cover. Ill have to try these. For those savy shoppers ysl is available at some chemist warehouses at amazing prices.

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. Just when you think you’ve left teenage skin behind! I found Lisa Eldridge’s video for covering blemishes SO helpful – http://www.lisaeldridge.com/video/12764/acneblemish-covering-make-up/ Thanks for the YSL bargain tip too! xx

sorry for the slow response…. thanks for the link. Super helpful! I’m just hating that I’m getting scaring most of all, it would be ok if I knew that I would just break out for a little bit then go back to my lovely clear skin, but now I have this scarring that makes it hard to feel like i can ever get that nice skin back 🙁 I will be trying this technique out though and thanks again for sharing.
