They say things are bigger in America, and big hair is right on trend at the latest NYFW.
Enjoy some more fabulous hair highlights from the FW 2012 New York runways.
I like big buns at Georgine
Hair was lightly crimped for added texture, and shaped into giant top knots. I’m wearing this style today – just minus the crimper.
Ladylike volume at Caroline Herrera
Orlando Pita at Orlo Salon for Moroccanoil created this stunning hair, that’s 60s inspired but feels so modern. Picking up on one of 2012’s top hair trends – the headband – which Orlando says you can make with a length of ribbon or elastic.
Backcombing is key for creating hair this big. Orlando backcombed 1/2 inch sections starting at the nape, and used the new Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to hold as her went. Once all your hair is one huge teased mess, take a bristle brush and smooth the top layer over. Extensions were used on the fine-haired models to pump up the volume too.
Cartoon Crazy at Jeremy Scott
Eugene Souleiman loves working with Jeremy Scott, and when you see this crazy hair you know why! Eugene is the Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals and he has created a colourful fiesta of hair that could be described as 3D futuristic avatar travels back in time to go to a 90s rave.
You’re not going to create this look at home, so I won’t give you Eugene’s how-to which involves braiding all your hair, adding in weaves in sections and then cutting the weaves into a bob. The easiest way to create this is to buy a wig and spray paint it! But a few sprays of Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray will make it look pretty at the end.
What big things will you be up to this weekend?
Ohhh Love those buns!
I love a bit of color, but perhaps not as wild as that. I also love this hair blog http://hairblog.nicolasjurnjack.com/ which shows you how to do hair Pom-poms with color… very interesting!
That pom pom hair is amazing!
I’ve been doing the first one quite a bit lately. Just something different from a ponytail or a bun but my hair is still up and out of the way. Although, not as big, but not much smaller.
I love that it’s a messy sort of look so no need to perfect it, let it go crazy.
Caroline Herrera looks awesome!
