RAFW Backstage – Alice McCall

May 15, 2011 By Hair Romance Leave a Comment

Alice McCall said she was inspired by Parisian high tea and there is a sense of modern elegance in this collection. It felt like the models had escaped from a party down a garden path. They emerged through a wall of flowers and headed straight into the bright glare at the end of the runway.
Jon Pulitano, of Headcase Hair inPaddington, was the Hair Director and created the dreamy hair. He said “it’s like she started off ‘proper’ but has lost her way a little. The hair has an edge to it but still a sense of innocence and softness.”

I can’t help but wonder if the models feel like they are in Wonderland when they walk the catwalk.
How to get the look
1.     Section hair into a deep side part
2.     Prep hair by misting it with a volumising spray, and blow-drying smooth using a round brush, creating a soft texture with body
3.     Leaving out the front section of hair from the top of the head to the top of the ears, take remaining hair and create a long, loose, plait.
4.     Working with the front section of hair, take large, vertical sections and using the Cloud Nine Wand on 150 degrees, create beautiful, soft movement.  Wrap the hair from the larger base to the middle of the wand for a more relaxed and polished feel.
5.     Once all hair is curled, use a bristle brush to shape and mould waves for a beautiful, polished finish.
6.     Finish by misting style with a light hold hairspray
How to wear the look off the runway
I love the look of the soft curls created with the conical curling wand and gently brushed into cascading waves. If you’re not blessed with mermaid hair, add some clip in extensions, as the models are wearing, or try a loose chignon instead.  All images by Hair Romance
