Sydney secrets – Where Hair Romance began & Lucio’s Paddington

Paddington Terraces

Not many people know this but Hair Romance began in Paddington, Sydney. In William Street to be exact.

I met my husband and my hairdresser in this same street, just weeks apart, and both meetings were life changing.

I don’t know anyone that doesn’t love the charm of Paddington. It’s a gorgeous little suburb just east of the city full of cute terrace houses, tiny streets and parks. It’s a mix of houses, boutiques and restaurants and some true local characters.

So after Kimmi treated me at her local Sydney secret spa, it was time to show her one of my favourite parts of Paddington.

Lucios Restaurant Paddington

Almost hidden down a quiet, tree-lined street in Paddington lies one of the best restaurants in Sydney. Lucio’s is an institution and almost more of an art gallery.

Inside Lucios Restaurant Paddington

Australian artworks fill the walls in this intimate restaurant. Kimmi & I instantly felt at home when welcomed by Lucio himself and are shown to our table by the Italian waiters.

Blood orange aperol apritivi

We try the special aperitivo and canapés, which are complimentary just by paying with your Mastercard.

The Menus at Lucios by John Olsen

The menus are designed by Australian artist John Olsen, a close friend of Lucio’s.

Truffle Pasta at Lucios Paddington

Ricotta Cannoli at Lucios Paddington

Now – the food! Simple northern Italian dishes, just like I grew up with, and a mix of classic dishes. I ate this divine truffle pasta and I couldn’t go past the cannoli for dessert.

Prosecco at Lucios Paddington

Lucio’s is open five days a week, Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. You often fine dining restaurants are closed Mondays as they can’t buy fresh produce in time for lunch service.

Hair Romance and Lucio Galletto

My local secret tip is to walk off your lunch in William Street, just one block up, browsing the gorgeous boutiques.

I LOVE little places like this, with history & people who have been there since the beginning. The food looks devine, too – I’m a sucker for pasta and cannoli! x

Oh my goodness, now I want to go even more! The food looks delicious! I told my husband and now he’s hooked. We’ll make it there someday! That restaurant & neighborhood looks fabulous!
