So another fashion week finishes in Sydney and I’ve so many images and trends to pick through. My full trend wrap ups and behind the scenes pics will be up next week but one hairstyle totally stood out for me. I know it’s a braid we’ll all want to copy.

This style, as seen at Jennifer Kate, was created by Marie Cain for Goldwell. I love the contrast between the clean sectioned braid and the softness of the looped bun.

Marie adapted the style to each model’s hair and said, “The look is relaxed and cool, a very boyish feel in the way they very effortlessly tie their hair back, with a good amount of texture and flyways that will have a really nice movement as the girls walk. It has shape and a structure that’s very undone in its feel but strong in technique. The detail in the back creates a really nice line and a fun point of difference.”

“The tight and defined cornrow braid is juxtaposed by the soft finish of the hair at the nape of the neck and loose fly-aways around the face. The texture of this look is the most important element as it must be a very pliable texture and matte finish, easy to create flyways. ?I feel this style compliments Jennifer Kates collection well, it adds a somewhat dreamy feel, especially when you get all that movement as the models walk the flyways seem to float through the air, much like the movement of the confetti on the floor.”

Would you like a full tutorial for this braid? I can’t wait to try it in my hair.
