New York Fashion Week came and went in a flurry, or should I say snowstorm?
While we have to wait over six months to buy the fashion in-store, we can copy the beauty trends straight away. You may already have the products in your beauty cabinet. If not, I’ve included some products tips for you.
Here’s my run-down of the top 5 fashion week beauty trends to try right now.
NYFW Beauty trends – Bold Lips
For me, this trend never dies but the hues change. This time, go for a deeper red. On the catwalks we saw lips in oranges to violets and all berry inbetween.
As seen at: Naeem Khan, Rebecca Minkoff, Araks, Zimmerman, Tadashi Shoji (in an ombre tone), Tibi and Nanette Lepore (with some killer braids)
Try these gorgeous shades you can wear right now. Remember to use a lip balm to prep your lips (I love Maybelline Baby Lips) and use a lip brush for a perfect finish.
NYFW Beauty Trends – Metallics
Shine on. Eyes and nails got the midas touch on the New York runways last week. Silver shimmer tones were on eyes at Tracy Reese while silver nails shone at Prabal Gurung. At Rodarte the bold lips and metallic trends combined in a gold shimmer lip.
As seen at: Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung, Rodarte, Tory Burch, Sass & Bide, Badgley Mischka, Delpozo
Here are my top shimmering picks for eyes and nails.
NYFW Beauty Trends – Feeling Blue
Blue eyes are back in a big way. We saw glimpses of it last season but it’s back with a bang for fall. I love the multi-coloured blue liner at Cynthia Rowley. Models lips weren’t turning blue from the cold, they turned blueberry at Ann Yee and at Herve Leger glimpses of blue hair extensions peeked through their ponytails.
As seen at: Anna Sui, Cynthia Rowley, Creatures of the Wind, Ann Yee, Herve Leger
Don’t be afraid of feeling blue with these products.
NYFW Beauty Trends – Bold Eyes
There’s a reason I own so many different types of eyeliners – kohl, gel, liquid and pencil all combine to create strong, bold eyes. This was the biggest beauty trend from NYFW and it took many shapes and flicks. From soft smoky eyes, to exaggerated 60s cat eyes, it’s time to make your eyes the focus.
Now you know how I feel about a competing eye and lip combo, so you’ll have to make a choice on this beauty look. I make an exception for a sleek cat eye with a red lip but for a full-on bold eye, take it a little softer on the lips. Or break all the rules!
As seen at: Rag & Bone, Rebecca Taylor, Altazurra, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Marchesa, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Cushnie et Ochs, Jonathan Simkhai, Herve Leger, Tome, Tanya Taylor
Here are my favourite eyeliners, start drawing!
NYFW Beauty Trends – Braids
It wouldn’t be Hair Romance without some braid love. These are two of my favourite braids from this season, as seen at Nanette Lepore and Creatures of the Wind. Both styles share a similar curving braid shape that emulates a fringe/bangs. This is the perfect for those of you with long layers contemplating a fringe but not so sure about it You can have the best of both worlds.
Other gorgeous braid trends were the gold dipped braids at Mara Hoffman, cornrows at Tibi and Marchesa and milkmaid braids at Whit.
As seen at: Nanette Lepore, Creatures of the Wind, Mara Hoffman, Tibi, Marchesa, Whit, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Honor, Emerson
