Would you like a Hair Romance Hairstyling App?

February 20, 2012 By Hair Romance 29 Comments

I am addicted to my iphone, and if I’m not on it then I’m probably on my ipad! I’ve been thinking about this for a little while and it makes sense (to me) to create an app just for Hair Romance. What do you think?

I’ve been searching through the iTunes store for good hair apps and I haven’t really found any. Can you recommend any hair apps you use that I should check out?

I’d like to know what you want in a hairstyling app. Step-by-steps, or videos?Β Also, what would you pay for an app?

Feel free to email me thehair[at]hairromance[dot]com or leave a comment as I’d love to know if it’s a good idea or if I’m just hair-crazy.

I would love to have a Hair Romance app. I have your e-books. But, I, too, am addicted to my phone and to apps. But, it would be so great to be able to pop up your app and show my stylist exactly what I want her to do. A picture does speak a thousand words. And, yes, I would pay a reasonable amount for your app!

Thanks so much Teresa! It’s still on my to-do list. I have so many ideas, just need to pick one and start building it πŸ˜‰

It’d be fantastic to have a hairromance app. I would prefer the step by step tutorial with pics. And yes… definitely willing to pay, but as some say, keep it on the low side. πŸ™‚

I again say yes to the app! around a dollar please.

    a little off topic:
I was at the hairdresser this last weekend and they had a couple of iPads for clients to use while they wait. I was a little early and was browsing the hair apps. Most apps had pics of runway hair or “designer” hair which while fun to look at once in while was no help at all in choosing a real life hairstyle or how to fix it up everyday.

Absolutely yes! I love your 30 Days book, but as someone else commented, it would be lovely to have while I was away from home. More videos to complement your 30 Days would be super helpful, too. I would totally pay $$$ for an app like that.

Excellent opportunity to expand on your book.

A free app called ‘Hairdressing Video Tutor’ is probably the closest how-to video app on the apple store.

Probably more designed for hairdressers, but has some basic styling and how-to’s etc. Nothing as nice and unique as your work though! It might give you a few ideas re layout etc.

Also dont discount creating a mobile based website as opposed to the app which will be quite expensive to create and will be dictated by apple (itunes). Probs best to touch base with an IT firm that does both. Ive used one in Melbourne, but dont know of any in Sydney sorry!

All the best with it, I think its a great idea and you’ve certainly got wonderful content.

    Definitely a great idea!
It would an app worth paying for if you did your 30 days of twist and pin ebook in app form so you could have it on your phone and take it anywhere. You could do a premium version that has video tutorials as well as photo tutorials for the hairstyles!

And, being an android user, if you could cater to that as well I crown you queen of the mobile internets. πŸ™‚

Would LOVE an app! I have the e-book but i always want to access it on my phone. Would love to see tutorials right there. I would pay for it as well, probably up to $4 if I knew that new content would continue to appear.

this is a great idea. each style should come with a video demonstration. fun tips would be nice. it needs to be on android too! I would probably pay like 2.99-3.99 for this. It should also be updated from time to time to keep it useful and fresh.

I think an app would be a great idea. I’m always wanting to refer to your e-book for inspiration on tough hair days and without fail I always reach for my iPhone before realising it’s an e-book on my laptop lol! I guess I am just so used to having my phone, I don’t actually know what I would do without it.

If you were to make it into an app, I think you should expand 30days into video tuts as well, because no matter how hard I try I still can’t get your twist and pin trick down pat πŸ˜‰ I’m always looking for hair inspiration, and I’m *always* on the lookout for good hair products as I can never seem to find anything that my hair likes. Maybe you could expand on hair inspiration, and include your favorite products, or reviews on products?

There are so many things girls just don’t know how to do with their hair, so I’m sure a decent hair app would go wild on iTunes. I think anywhere between 0.99c and $5 would be a good price range to aim for. $5 would be top end and if you had decent/rave reviews I reckon it would be feasible. But my partner has also told me iTunes take half of your profits from app sales, so don’t forget that!

Um, I would just like to say that I’d luv a hair styling app, I can never thing of the right thing to do with my hair and your blog has helped a lot. Things you should include: hair video tutorial’s, In debt detail on how to recreate a hairstyle & what products to use on it, what to use on hair to keep it healthy, etc. πŸ˜€ I’d pay $0.99 or $1.00 πŸ˜€

LOVE IT!! Pictures and videos please. And I would pay up to $5 for a really good app if it’s proven itself worth it in the reviews, but not more than that. $1.99 – $3.99 seems like what most people are willing to pay.

LOVE this idea and would definitely get it! I’d love a step by step tutorial for sure πŸ™‚ I agree pricing has to be low as you can get these tutes for free on youtube (obviously not as good as an app though!).

i do agree with the video tutorial thing. For pricing… people aren’t willing to pay a lot, so I would keep it on the low side.

Maybe a little video tutorial for the hairstyle you choose so you can do it where ever you are?
