December is my favourite month of the year. Not only because I get to celebrate my birthday and Christmas, but it’s the start of summer in Australia. I love taking time at the end of each year to to reflect on the year that was and get ready for the year ahead. I’m sure 2012 is going to be spectacular.
I want to share some of my favourite moments of 2011 tomorrow but today I wanted to know what your favourite Hair Romance moments of 2011 were. Here’s a countdown to the top 11 most popular posts on Hair Romance in 2011.
11. FRENCH ROLL TWIST & PIN HOW TO
One of my first hairstyle tutorials, and still one of my favourites. I also shot a video tutorial of this hairstyle for Hair Romance TV episode 2.
10. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 2
The 30 Hairstyles in 30 Days Challenge was one of the defining moments of Hair Romance. Almost all the top posts are from this Twist & Pin hairstyle challenge I set myself earlier in the year. It put my traffic through the roof and became my first ebook.
9. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 11
I was really curious to see which days were the most popular. I thought the complicated styles would be the most clicked. It seems that 2011 was the year of braids!
8. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 3
This hairstyle was one of those lucky accidents, that I now recreate all the time. I honestly styled it in a only few twists and pins, asked my husband what he thought, and took a photo so i could see the back properly. I love this side ponytail.
7. TWIST & PIN SIDE CHIGNON HOW-TO
This beautiful tutorial from Martha Stewart Weddings made me lift my game with my photography for the Hair Romance hairstyle tutorials.
6. HOW TO EASY BRAID HAIRSTYLE – HAIR ROMANCE READER QUESTION
This post was inspired by a great question from a reader and I love this braid.
5. SWEET TWIST & PIN VARIATION
One of every day go-to styles, I also made a video tutorial of this style for Hair Romance Episode 3. Don’t ask me why I filmed a hair tutorial on top of a windy building!
4. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 6
One of my all time favourites, so pretty. I even styled my friend’s hair this way for her wedding in September.
3. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 18
Love this style too and loved seeing the gorgeous Sarah from Whoorl & Hair Thursday try it here.
2. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 1
The style that started it all with the hairstyle challenge – but it wasn’t the most popular…
1. 30 DAYS OF TWIST & PIN HAIRSTYLES – DAY 20
I never expected this simple style to be the most popular of all the 30 days! Maybe because it is so simple to do that’s the reason you liked it?
There’s no doubt the 30 Hairstyles in 30 Days was a huge favourite, as are braids and hairstyle tutorials. I have a another huge hairstyle challenge planned for February and I can’t wait to tell you about it!
What else would you love to see more of on Hair Romance in 2012?

Post #5 is my favorite up-do to do. 🙂 It looks like I took more time on it than I really did.
Your ebook has been a life-saver (or is that fashion-saver) for me this past summer. I got more compliments on my up-dos. Now I feel armed for the coming summer.
My only request is just MORE! LOL!
Have a smashing 2012!

Happy New Year to you in Sydney 🙂
I love the first twist and pin style so much. I have naturally curly hair (I’m African American) and am about to try this again. I bought your hair book a while back and love the styles. The problem I have is when I go to do the twist, it usually starts unraveling before I can pin it!
Hair Romance says
Happy new year Michelle!
Thanks so much for buying my ebook! If you’re having trouble keeping the twist together, maybe some more hairpins (the wider open style pins) could help. Use these to pin the twists in place as you go and secure them at the ends with bobby pins. Hope this helps x

I love your site and I would say just continue what you did so far, but as for me, I’s really appreciate the following:
– more wedding hair, or to be more precise bridesmaid hair (my cousin’s wedding is in May and I have *no clue* what to do with my shoulder-blade-long thin and straight *arg* hair ….)
– an explanation on how to use and what to watch out for when using hair accessories (f.e. I never got how you kept your blue necklace-hair thingie from falling out, I never know exactly where to put my one hair flower, I rip out my hair if I use curlies etc…. meaning I personally am in dire need for ^^).
Best birthday and christmas wishes (although a little late)

Thanks Miranda! I will definitely do a bridesmaid hair roundup and I think accessories will be a big trend for 2012. A quick tip for now is that I use bobby pins to attach necklaces or other jewellery as hair acessories. I put a bobby pin through a link in the chain (or anywhere it will hold) then attach to my hair.

oooohhh love that tip! I am gunna have to try that tomorrow!! 🙂
