NYFW hairspiration – 9 runway braids to inspire your everyday hair

September 19, 2014 By Hair Romance 18 Comments

I love checking out the fashion week runways for the next hair trends. You may have to wait 6 months for the clothes to be in-store, but you can wear the hairstyles now.

At New York Fashion Week (NYFW) there was a trend for undone hair. Wet hair is still featuring on the runways but braids are the trend that just won’t quit. Which is fine by me! Braids are so versatile, I can’t see them going anywhere for a while.

For the Spring/Summer 2015 collections, the braids went two ways, super neat and simple or rough and messy. Which is your favourite NYFW hairstyle?

1. Sleek fishtail braids at Tome

2. Fishtail braided sleek ponies at Dannijo

3. Chain link braids at Donna Karan

4. Mini braids at Rachel Zoe

8. Low messy braids at Michael Kors

I like that Dannijo partial fishtail braid. Looks simple enough to try on myself. My hair is quite long but very fine so a full-length fishtail fizzles out to a scrawny, lank thing after a short distance!
Do you already have a tutorial for something like the Mara Hoffman twisted braid?

You’ll also love this fishtail braid tutorial Andrea. My friend has super fine hair and this makes it look so much thicker. I found this tutorial for Mara Hoffman braid xx

Don’t forget the awesome warrior braids at Bibhu Mohapatra! The two cornrows at the top of the head were pretty extreeme, but lots of fun. I’ve tried the look myself already ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite is the Rachel Zoe half-up braid. Looks fresh, and doable for multiple hair lengths. Plus, I like that it isn’t the typical braids that I’ve seen before.

I’ve attempted to do a chain braid by just trying it, but it always ended in a big big mess..

My hair has been looking like those Michael Kors braids all summer thanks to the crazy humidity here. Looking forward to just claiming them as fashion forward instead ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love that Rachel Zoe half-up braid though.
